MPACT Enrollment Re-Opens on
September 1
The Mississippi Prepaid Affordable College Tuition (MPACT) program will re-open to enrollment for 2019-20 on September 1. MPACT helps to guard against the rise in the cost of tuition by essentially locking in the costs for your child’s future enrollment. You can purchase plans for community colleges, four-year universities, or even a combination of both. And, the benefits can be used at public or private schools, in-state or out-of-state.

College Savings Mississippi also offers flexible payment options to make saving for your child’s education through MPACT affordable for all budgets. And, the tax advantages, including payments that may be deductible for State income tax and earnings that may be exempt from federal and State income taxes – help to stretch your savings dollar!

Enrollment is available for newborns all year long, but if you have an older child or grandchild and are considering opening an account, check out my website for more information today and be ready to enroll on September 1!
Great Unclaimed Property Events in
North Mississippi Last Week
Many, many thanks to the Supervisors of Lee, Union, and Tishomingo Counties and Randy Kelly of the Three Rivers Planning and Development District for all their help with our unclaimed property events in Tupelo and Iuka last week. We helped over 450 people during those two afternoons search the unclaimed property list and start the claims process for reclaiming their money.

Since I took office in January 2012, we have distributed almost $99.4 million in unclaimed property. That is over half of the money distributed for Mississippi since 1982. Strong outreach programs like these events really help to get the word out about money that the State may be holding for Mississippi families and businesses.

You can always check out my website to see if you have any money on the State list. And, if you’ve lived in or done business in another state, you may want to also check out MissingMoney.com . This site is run by the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA), of which Mississippi is a member. It has a search engine that covers nearly every state in the nation, and links to other states’ unclaimed property websites.
