MPACT Enrollment Period Opened This Weekend
The 2019-2020 enrollment period for the Mississippi Prepaid Affordable College Tuition (MPACT) program opened on September 1 st . This tax-advantaged program gives families the opportunity to essentially freeze tuition in time and it can be used at public or private schools, in-state or out-of-state.

MPACT has plans for four-year colleges, 2-year degrees, or a combination. With the cost of tuition rising faster than the rate of inflation and wages, it is definitely worth looking into. Visit my website to learn more about MPACT and start investing in your child’s future today.

You can enroll a newborn in MPACT year-round, but otherwise, enrollment is open from September 1 to May 31 each year.
$5.29 College Savings Day is This Saturday
For the seventh year, College Savings Mississippi and the Mississippi Children’s Museum will team up to celebrate September as National College Savings Month with $5.29 College Savings Day at the museum in Jackson.

Admission to the museum all day this Saturday, September 7 will be just $5.29 to remind people of the great value 529 college savings plans, like MPACT and MACS (Mississippi Affordable College Savings), offer. From 10 am to 2 pm, Echo will be available to take pictures and lead children in fun financial literacy activities and our College Savings specialists will be available to answer your questions about saving for your children’s education.

Plus, we will give away two $529 MACS scholarships – at 11 am and 1 pm. Remember: MACS is not just for college any more. You can use it to help pay tuition at private and religious K-12 schools as well. Learn more about $5.29 College Savings Day on my website .
Honored to Host the Girl Scouts Women of Distinction Gala Tonight
It is an honor to reprise my role as emcee at tonight’s Women of Distinction gala at the Westin Hotel in Jackson. Each year, the Girl Scouts of Greater Mississippi honor women leaders who are great role models in their fields of work and their community service. This year’s laureates are:

Jamie Planck Martin, Attorney and Owner, Providence Hill Farm

Deanne Mosley, Attorney and Executive Director of the Mississippi Bar Association

Sarah Bailey Thomas, First Female NFL Official

Dr. Rhea Williams-Bishop, Director of Mississippi & New Orleans Programs, W.K. Kellogg Foundation

I was honored several years ago to be a Women of Distinction laureate and am so pleased to welcome these prestigious Mississippi women as laureates this year.
