Hey Friends and Family! The Lyon Fun Run is a new event to raise money for the Lyon PTO, which helps our school, students, and teachers. This is a healthy, educational fundraiser which will be hosted during the school day! The kids will be jogging/walking for around 20 minutes. Students will ask family and friends to sponsor them by making a donation to Lyon PTO while encouraging them to get up and move.

What I Need Time (WIN Time)

Each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:35-9:05am Lyon students will participate in What I Need Time (WIN time). During this time students will be placed in grade level groups to focus on skills they need in order to master grade level standards. Students who have mastered these skills will be challenged with standards from the next grade level.
These groups are fluid and data from pre and post tests will be utilized to identify misconceptions your child may have. The intention is to meet each learner where he/she is, fill in any gaps within the learning, and build on this knowledge to solidify the learning.

Update: Birthday Snack Information

At the August 15 Board of Education meeting board policy ADF (district wellness policy) was discussed. The conversation mainly centered around one component of the policy which states that the district will follow USDA Smart Snacks for celebrations and birthdays for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. After much discussion, the Board has asked the district to "pause" on the implementation of requiring that birthday and celebration treats meet USDA Smart Snack requirements. During this time the Board has requested that district administration and health services department investigate what is mandated by the state and federal government regarding this component of policy ADF. Administration will provide the Board of Education with this information and possible alternatives for review. During this review period the district will implement policy ADF as it did during the 2018-19 school year. Therefore, it will not be necessary to consult the USDA Smart Snack requirements until further notice.
