Lyon: Lifelong Leaders and Learners
Thank you for all the Major Saver card sales coming in. As a reminder, all proceeds will be divided among the Republic Community Foundation and Lyon students. Lyon will use their portion to support LEAD teams at Lyon. Students on LEAD teams will get to decide how to best utilize these funds to make improvements around Lyon, or to purchase items that support LEAD teams visions.

*Please note the change of date: November 30th will be the last day to collect money.

The Leader In Me

The Leader In Me does not just place focus on students knowing the habits, but it is a leadership tool that focuses on students taking on leadership opportunities within their schools and finding their voice. Lyon wants to honor Leader In Me's mission by establishing LEAD teams. These teams will be a way to strengthen our school community and empower students to become more involved within the school. Students have now attended our Leadership Expo and selected LEAD teams they feel passionate about and also feel as if they have strengths to bring to the team. Students will find out which LEAD team they have the opportunity to serve on at our December 19th assembly. You don't want to miss this event!

Below are photos from our first ever Leadership Expo!
School Goals:

Lyon's mid-quarter goal check shows that we have exceeded our goal of 80% of students meeting grade level standards in math, with 82.8%. This percentage indicates the percentage of students Kindergarten through Fifth grade. We are below our goal of 80% proficiency in writing, with only 68.7% of students meeting or exceeding grade level standards.
Lyon teachers will utilize WIN time to reteach and support students within writing, as well as, utilize early release time to align best teaching practices with current units of instruction.
Leadership Assembly
These 5th grade emcees did an awesome job! Thanks Vivi and Corbin for your hard work in preparing for the assembly.
Thank you to Republic's Mayor, Mr. Ussery, for speaking to Lyon students about Habit 3: Putting First Things First.
Lyon Hero of the Month
Congratulations to Mrs. Goddard (AKA Ms. Tarynn) Lyon's Hero of the month. Ms. Tarynn serves in our special education classroom as a paraprofessional. She is a blessing to this classroom. She brings strong instructional knowledge, with her past background as a 3rd grade teacher, and goes above and beyond in her role. We are so honored to have Mrs. Goddard support Lyon students each and every day at Lyon!
