M² recently made two $12M commitments to (1) Angeles Equity Partners I, L.P., a $120M special situations fund formed by Angeles Equity Partners, LLC ("Angeles"), a California-based private equity firm and (2) Caltius Equity Partners III, L.P., a $140
fund formed by Caltius Capital Management, L.P. ("Caltius"), a California-based private equity firm.
Angeles Equity Partners I, L.P.
Jordan Katz and Timothy Meyer founded Angeles in April 2014. They both have extensive operational and private equity experience and have worked together since 2005. Prior to Angeles, Jordan and Timothy were senior team members of The Gores Group, LLC, based in Los Angeles, where they co-led the industrials vertical.
Over the past nine years, they have collaborated on numerous platform investments, add-on acquisitions, refinancings, and divestitures and have had significant involvement in the implementation of complex business transformations across multiple economic cycles. Jordan and Timothy have hired a number of professionals to form a strong investment and back office team.
Angeles plans to invest in companies that are underperforming, undergoing financial or operational stress, or possess some form of complexity that presents a compelling investment opportunity. Angeles believes a significant return on invested capital can be generated through an operational transformation and strategic repositioning of these businesses.
Caltius Equity Partners III, L.P.
Jim Upchurch began pursuing buyout strategies in 1999 with Caltius Equity Partners I, L.P. Jim Upchurch, Garrick Ahn, and Michael Morgan have been with Caltius and operating in the lower middle market for over 17 years and collectively have over 50 years of investment experience.
Caltius Equity Partners III, L.P. represents a continuation of the longstanding Caltius investment strategy. They will seek to invest primarily in control transactions, growth financings, and recapitalizations of lower middle market companies. Caltius has been investing for nearly 17 years and is actively leveraging its extensive relationships with management teams it has backed in the past.
Caltius applies a repeatable value creation strategy consistently across its investments, which includes: process improvements, upgrading personnel, market penetration, and product expansion.
