Removing Barriers Begins with Access to Financial Aid

MPS Students at North Division 2026

Dear Partners,

As we build bridges from high school to college and beyond, we are committed to removing financial roadblocks. The National College Attainment Network (NCAN) reports that 85% of adults who either stopped attending or never enrolled in higher education cited cost as one of the primary challenges.

The cost of education does not have to be an insurmountable challenge.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) unlocks access to the Pell grant, low-interest loans, scholarships, and more. This month, we joined together with Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson to highlight our work to help students complete the FAFSA — and encourage the entire community to get engaged. Milwaukee Public Schools continues to outpace state and national averages in FAFSA completion, with support from Milwaukee Area Technical College and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Join us in encouraging any high school senior you know to finish the FAFSA.

Respectfully,

Brenda Cassellius, EdD

FAFSA Shows Students How to Afford College

How do students find out what kind of financial aid is available to help them attend college? Filling out the FAFSA is the place to start.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, opens doors to higher education by showing students and families what types of grants and loans are available. In MPS, all high school seniors are asked to fill out the FAFSA as a graduation requirement.

M-Cubed is committed to providing support to students in filling out the FAFSA, navigating financial aid, and following their career dreams.

Read more about how the FAFSA is making college attendance more accessible.
