Message from the Division President
Greetings!

I hope you are enjoying the Spring and looking forward to an exciting Summer!

We are looking forward to seeing you at IISE 2023 (finally!) in New Orleans, LA.
(See details below).

First, I want to Thank You – our M&D community for giving me the opportunity to serve the President of M&D Division for the past two years. As I reflect on my tenure, I am both inspired and grateful for the tremendous growth we have accomplished (e.g., our M&D membership count is at its all-time highest – so far!) by leveraging our community’s standing in the larger IISE community and by being agile when dealing with unforeseen challenges (e.g., COVID-19 pandemic).

I am deeply grateful to my fellow board members, IISE staff (you are awesome!), M&D track chairs, M&D town hall sponsors, and all the volunteers who have served our division in a variety of roles.

I am excited about our new M&D Board members who will serve under the leadership of Dr. Harry Pierson, and will be introduced in our M&D Town Hall Meeting at IISE 2023.

Please accept this as my personal invitation for the annual M&D Town Hall meeting on Sunday, May 21st (3:30 – 4:50 PM in Hyatt - Strand 13A (Level Two)).

During this Town Hall, we will present a comprehensive report on the M&D annual activities, recognize M&D award winners and accomplishments, and you will have an opportunity to network with colleagues while enjoying hors d'oeuvres and beverages sponsored by 8 universities.

In this newsletter, we are highlighting important information about the upcoming conference (May 21-24). We have 58 talks scheduled across 15 contributed sessions in the M&D track. In addition, we have 8 special sessions organized under the M&D division with their detailed information summarized in this newsletter. Also, we are spotlighting our track chairs for their service to our M&D Division at IISE 2023.

Along with the entire M&D Division Board, it is my privilege to serve our vibrant M&D community. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with your ideas or questions. You can email me at gum@psu.edu
