Get Ready to Apply for Restaurant Revitalization Fund Grants ASAP on May 3

Applications for Restaurant Revitalization Grants will open on Monday, May 3, 2021, at 9:00 AM Pacific time. If you are a restaurant, food stand/truck/cart, caterer, bar, bakery, brewery, or winery, be ready to submit your application ASAP. Although funded with $28,600,000,000 (that's $28.6 billion) nationally, there is likely more demand for funding than there is available funding. To be ready to apply quickly, here are some resources for you:

  • WEBINAR: Wednesday, April 28, 8:30 AM | Register Here
  • SBA presenters will cover how to use the application portal, program details, supplemental documents, who can apply, when to apply, how to apply, and more.
  • The webinar will also be recorded and will be uploaded to the SBA's YouTube channel afterward.
  • WEBSITE: Visit the Restaurant Revitalization Fund website, which includes the documentation needed to apply and a sample application.
  • E-MAIL UPDATES: Sign up for E-mail updates about the Restaurant Revitalization Fund.

Although all restaurants can apply beginning May 3, the SBA will exclusively review applications from priority groups for the first 21 days. These priority groups are businesses at least 51% owned by women, veterans, or socially and economically disadvantaged individuals. Beginning on day 22, SBA will essentially process applications on a first-come, first-served basis. So, it is critical that you apply for these funds immediately on May 3 to have your best shot at securing a grant before funding runs out.

At best, these Restaurant Revitalization Grants can make up for restaurants' full revenue losses in 2020 and can be worth millions of dollars. If you are eligible, do not pass up this opportunity!

VC to Remain in Orange Tier for at Least Two More Weeks

Under current rules, a county must record fewer than 2.0 new COVID-19 cases per 100K population for two consecutive weeks to advance to the yellow tier. In today's weekly state report, which tallies new case rates for last week, Ventura County missed the mark and therefore will be in the orange tier for at least the next two weeks. Thus, the earliest possible timeline to advance to yellow tier is an announcement on May 11, to be effective on May 12. The past month's new case rates are shown below for reference:

  • Mar. 30: 5.5 unadjusted, 3.9 adjusted
  • Apr. 6: 5.0 unadjusted, 3.9 adjusted
  • Apr. 13: 3.9 unadjusted, 2.8 adjusted
  • Apr. 20: 3.4 unadjusted, 2.6 adjusted
  • Apr. 27: 3.2 unadjusted, 2.4 adjusted

State health officials will continue publishing weekly statistics every Tuesday afternoon at covid19.ca.gov/safer-economy/. You can also search on the website by business type to see if a business type is currently allowed to open or not in our orange tier (need to select Ventura County).
