Restaurants & Caterers: Ventura County Meal Program Bids Due Feb. 22

The Ventura County Area Agency on Aging (VCAAA) is looking for restaurant and caterer partners for the County's new Restaurant Meal Program. The Program will provide home-delivered meals to Ventura County residents aged 60 and over and will be funded by the federal American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA). The Program aims to reduce hunger and food insecurity in the older population in Ventura County.

Under the program, County partners would prepare and deliver seven meals per week (delivering two meals twice a week, and three meals once a week is acceptable) to homebound people in Ventura County. Based on the population served, partners may need to make special efforts to meet the dietary needs of customers (i.e., diabetic and low-sodium meals must be available). From a business standpoint, participating in the program would have the effect of adding hundreds of customers per week and allow you to keep a productive kitchen and staff during traditionally slow mid-morning and mid-afternoon hours.

The initial contract period will be from March 1, 2022 through June 30, 2022, with a chance for contracts to be renewed annually after that.

Applications are due by 4:00 PM on Tuesday, February 22. Successful bidders will be notified on February 23, 2022.
