Ventura County Moves to Yellow Tier Ahead of California Re-Opening on June 15

This afternoon's weekly report from state health officials has good news: Ventura County moves to the yellow tier, effective Wednesday, June 2!

June 2: What's Changes in Yellow Tier?

Moving from Orange Tier to Yellow Tier includes the following highlights (see full list):

  • Indoor Gyms and Fitness Facilities: Capacity increases from 25% to 50%; saunas reopen
  • Restaurants: Already open, and indoor capacity still capped at 50%, but previous 200-person indoor cap removed
  • Bars: Can start opening indoors at 25% capacity or 100 people, whichever is less
  • Wineries/Breweries: Indoor capacity increases from 25% capacity and 100-person cap, to 50% capacity and 200-person cap, whichever is less
  • Movie Theaters: Capacity still capped at 50%, but previous 200-person cap removed

June 15: What Happens When California "Re-Opens?"

The current color-tiered system will go away on June 15, and all sectors listed in the Blueprint Activities and Business Tiers Chart (includes virtually all businesses, including retail and shopping centers, restaurants and bars, offices, personal care services, churches, hotels, gyms, and theaters) may return to usual operations with the following general public health recommendations:

  • Capacity Limitations: No restrictions

  • Physical Distancing: No restrictions for attendees, customers, and guests

  • Masking: Must follow current Guidance for Face Coverings (Generally speaking, vaccinated people would not have to wear masks outdoors, but current indoor masking requirements and requirements for unvaccinated people would not change otherwise)

  • Vaccine Verification/Negative Testing: Required for indoor "Mega Events" and recommended for outdoor "Mega Events" (Mega Events are 5,000+ people if indoors; 10,000+ people if outdoors)

For more information about the state's re-opening plans, read the full "Beyond the Blueprint" announcement from the California Department of Public Health.
