As we move our way into the thick of Lent many thanks to all of you who are working so diligently to make a Emmanuel a welcoming gospel centered place of ministry and fun! Thanks to our Bishop’s Committee for getting the outside water fountain up and working. There is nothing like a cool drink of water that epitomizes a Christian community! So thank you for making that a reality for our neighbors who pass by. While we have been able to give dogs plenty to drink on the low fountain, we are now able to give people that drink as well through the upper fountain. Remember Jesus saying that “whoever gives someone a drink of cold water in my name will by no means lose their reward.” So……. thank you!
We have a new group of Altar Guild volunteers. Those who have been on the front lines for so long are finally able to begin to see a resting point in their future! Many thanks to the eight of you who stepped up. We will be able to organize groups of two that can take one week each Sunday with our emeritus group gratefully willing to take on the fifth Sunday of the month when that occurs, at least for the time being. Those Altar Guilders who take care of keeping the linens washed and pressed and the flowers always beautiful, will keep on keeping on. Thank you so very much! Oh yes: Training will be on Saturday, March 21 at 11 AM.
Our Tuesday morning healing service and Bible study continue to be well attended. I'm so grateful that you take time out of your busy days to come and dive deeply into our scriptures. It's not always easy but it is frequently enlightening. And it is always good to spend time with friends on a useful task.
Plans are underway for an agape meal on Maundy Thursday along with the highly anticipated foot washing!! I know everybody is excited about the foot washing!! Please mark it on your calendar as we look forward to a very meditative, thoughtful, and inspiring Holy Day celebration. Hope to see one and all this Sunday!! Don’t forget to bring a friend, if can. Until then, a hui hou!
