MA Elks Veterans Fundraising Committee
Our new veterans pins will be on sale at the state convention in Hyannis. They are $100 per bag of 100. You may sell them in your lodges for $2 per pin, that way they pay for themselves and you also will make $1 per pin for your lodge's veterans fund.
This is a very important fundraiser for our Veterans and I ask that all lodges participate.
If you cannot afford a full bag, we will split them for you in units of 25. The pins make great gift s for the Veterans who visit your lodge or those that you visit in the hospital. They are also great to attach to a greeting card and I will have some samples available at the convention. They make a great addition to your care packages that are sent to active duty personnel overseas and make a nice gift for your Adopt-a-Vets.
Please be sure that checks are made out to the Mass Elks Association, with vets pins in the memo portion.
Remember, Friday at the convention is Red Shirt Friday, if you don't have one, we will have a limited supply of them as well as matching hats at the convention.
We will also have a limited supply of a new Veterans T-shirt that we are sure is going to be popular, so shop early.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
See you in Hyannis!

"ELK ON THE TRAIL"
ANNUAL MEMORIAL SERVICE

Dear Exalted Ruler and Members,
The 91th Anniversary of the "Elk on the Trail" Ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 12:00pm. It will be held at the Elk Memorial on Whitcomb Summit, Route 2, in Florida, Massachusetts.
This is the only State Association sponsored Veteran's Memorial Program. Please help us honor our deceased Veterans by attending this very important service. All members, families, and guests are invited to attend.
As in past years, we are asking that each Lodge send a representative to the service, and participate in honoring our deceased Veterans by bringing a small wreath (preferably artificial as it will be there all year) representing their lodge. Upon arrival please register so that you will be included in the Ceremony.
The Greenfield Lodge #1296 will again be serving breakfast at their lodge on Saturday morning for those who wish to arrive early and relax before "climbing the mountain".
The dress of the day will be jacket and tie.
Dinner will be served at the North Adams Lodge #487 immediately following the ceremony.
Since the weather can sometimes be on the cool (or wet) side, please bring a jacket or sweater along with a lawn chair if you wish to sit.
In case of rain, the service will be held at the North Adams Lodge.

Robert Anspach - State Chairman
AN OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE
The Massachusetts State Elk's Association year is almost complete. At this time our records show that 44 Lodges have given away a total of 21,780 dictionaries.
In an attempt to have all our Lodges participate in the Project I would like to offer everyone an opportunity. If those Lodges who have not participated in the Project this year would make out a donation check for Twenty Dollars ($20.00) payable to the "Mass State Elks Association", we will buy dictionaries, and with the help of Mary French, founder of the Project, we will make the distribution possible. They will also help supplement the number of books in order to make the program successful. Please include your Lodge name and number in the memo.
If an individual member wishes to make a donation on behalf of his/her Lodge, please do the same on your check. There will be no reimbursement funds awarded if contributions are made in this fashion, but your Lodge will receive the recognition for having participated.
It is a win-win opportunity for The Dictionary Project and for the students who will receive the dictionaries. This approach to the program will close on May 26, 2014 in order to allow the State Association to close out their books.
Checks may be brought to the Regional meeting where I will explain the opportunity to the entire Membership. If there are any questions please feel free to call me: 774-279-2796.
My thanks to those Lodges who have already contributed, and I look forward to reporting a 100% participation to our State President Joe Hickey.
