K-12 Math Network

Thinking in the math classroom! Are your students actively engaged in thinking about math? What practices need to be incorporated to ensure students are thinking about math? Northwest RPDC staff and mathematics faculty of Northwest Missouri State University are collaborating to offer a year-long book study of "Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics" by Peter Liljedahl. We'll meet monthly: book study sessions will take place via Zoom, and in-person sessions will be held on Northwest's campus to discuss the implementation of strategies.

Sessions will address the following:

  • 14 teaching practices for enhancing thinking and learning
  • Motivating and engaging K-12 mathematics students
  • Promoting problem-solving and collaboration in the mathematics classroom
  • Collaboration and integration of network attendee needs and resources
  • DESE updates as they develop

Three Zoom meeting dates:

November 7, 2022, 3:45-4:45pm

January 2023 time and date TBD

March 2023 time and date TBD
