Applying the FCC Guidance on No-Charge Spots and Lowest Unit Charge During the Pandemic

Many stations seem unsure of how to apply the recent FCC guidance that no charge spots given to advertisers to help them through the pandemic do not need to be counted in computing a station's Lowest Unit Charge, as long as the no-charge spots are not part of paid advertising contracts and are not otherwise considered bonus spots.  Read More

FCC Extends Due Dates for Quarterly Issues Programs Lists, Children's Television Reports
The FCC just released a Public Notice announcing that they are giving stations more time in which to upload their Quarterly Issues Programs lists to their online public file and to file their first Annual Children's Television Report. Read More

Michigan Broadcasters Come Together for Second Town Hall Meeting
On April 2, television and radio broadcasters from throughout Michigan joined a coalition of Detroit television stations to present Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer in a Town Hall meeting on the COVID-19 situation in the state.  Read More

WOOD-TV Hosts First Town Hall for Governor Whitmer
On March 26, Nexstar's WOOD-TV (Grand Rapids) held the first of Governor Gretchen Whitmer's virtual Town Hall meetings, answering citizens' questions from email, video calls and phone about how the state is responding to coronavirus. The Governor was joined by Dr. Norm Beauchamp, the executive vice president for Health Sciences at Michigan State University.  Read More

Latitude Media Introduces COVID-19 Advertising Grant Program
Latitude Media, LLC, owner of WCZY-FM/WMMI-AM (Mt. Pleasant) and related digital properties), has announced a new $10,000 grant program designed to help market and enhance local businesses during the COVID-19 emergency. The company is encouraging business in Isabella, Clare, Gratiot, and Midland counties to submit applications on station websites.  Read More

WXYZ-TV will Air Palm Sunday, Easter Masses from St. Patrick's Cathedral
WXYZ-TV (Detroit) will broadcast Masses on Palm Sunday, April 5, and Easter Sunday, April 12, live from St Patrick's Cathedral in New York. The services will begin at 10 a.m. on both days.  Read More

Looking for Sales Professionals?

The MAB Foundation Board of Directors approved a new partnership with Central Michigan University's School of Broadcast and Cinematic Arts for the Fall 2020 semester.
The partnership will focus on developing mentoring relationships between students with an Electronic Media Sales Minor and broadcast industry professionals.
