GUBERNATORIAL INAUGURATION
Technical Details Released for Inauguration Broadcast
The MAB has sent technical information concerning television, radio and web feeds to MAB and MAPB members for its live broadcast  of the Gubernatorial Inauguration on January 1, 2019.  The program will air 11 a.m. to 11:56:46 a.m.  The technical details also include embed code for television and radio stations to put on their websites.  Read More

Legislation requiring complete contract information from those submitting a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request passed the State Legislature this week in response to requests sent to nearly every Michigan clerk for 2016 ballots signed only as "Emily."  Read More

Bill Extending Legislature's Power to Litigate Sent to Gov. Snyder's Desk
A bill that expands Legislature's ability to intervene in any lawsuit on any level of state court system at any time passed the State Legislature and is awaiting Governor's signature. Read More

The MAB was sad to learn that on December 1, WKAR Public Media Telecommunications Engineer Tom Kinney passed away at age 57.  Kinney was a 25-year veteran of the station.  Read More


WDET Receives $76,000 to Continue the Detroit Documenters Project
WDET-FM (Detroit) has announced that it has received a $76,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Southeastern Michigan in partnership with City Bureau and Citizen Detroit to expand the "Detroit Documenters" pilot, a citizen and local media partnership that aims to increase awareness and coverage of Detroit's public meetings.  Read More

Saginaw Station Cluster Exceeds Goal To Help Homeless
Alpha Media's five stations in Saginaw, Michigan raised $46,242 for homeless shelters during a 12-hour Radiothon on December 19, exceeding their goal of $45,000.  Read More

802! Record Number of Entries Submitted for Annual Student Contest
This week's entry deadline for submissions to the 2019 Michigan Student Broadcast Awards saw a record number of 802 entries made for the annual contest. The submissions, with over 40 categories across college and high school radio and television, will be judged by volunteer broadcast professional over the next few weeks. The Student Awards will be pretended during lunch on March 6 at the Great Lakes Media Show

Matched! Anonymous Giving Challenge Will Bring at Least $3,000 in End-of-Year Gifts
Last month, an anonymous donor said they would match every $100 donated to the MAB Foundation until the end of the year.
