Congressman Upton, NAB's Donilon join #MABsummer Speaker Lineup 
Congressman Fred Upton (MI-6) and Shawn Donilon, NAB Vice President for Government Relations, have been added to the exciting line up of speakers participating in the MAB's Summer Conference on August 13 and 14 at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.   Next National EAS Test; to
  include WEAs
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has proposed September 20, 2018  at 2:18 p.m.  Eastern as the date and time for the next nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System.   Read More

FCC Adopts New EAS Testing Procedures, False Alert Reporting, PSA Rules
On Thursday (July 12), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) took the latest in a series of actions designed, it says, to bolster the reliability of the nation's emergency alerting systems and support greater community preparedness.   Read More

FCC Extends Satellite Receiver Filing Deadline
Stations now have more time to register their C-Band satellite dishes. The FCC has granted a request that it keep a filing window open until October 17.   Read More

Appeals Court: Records Held by 'Agents' of Public Bodies Not Subject to FOIA
The Michigan Court of Appeals ruled in Bisio v. Clarkston that if documents are held by "agents" for a public body, such as a city attorney, the "agent" is not him/herself considered a public body that can be compelled to release documents under the Freedom of Information Act.  Read More

Supreme Court Orders Arguments on Redistricting Proposals 
Michigan Supreme Court ordered oral arguments in the question of whether the Voters not Politicians redistricting proposal can be put on the November ballot.  Read More

Michigan Radio Celebrates 70 years on the Air
On July 5, Michigan Radio marked 70 years on the air. The WUOM-FM signal in Ann Arbor began broadcasting for the first time on July 5, 1948. At the time, FM radio was extremely new.  Read More

While Michigan's Lower Peninsula NFL team loyalties may favor the Detroit Lions, its a little more divided in the U.P., where Michigan borders Wisconsin and the population is a bit closer to Green Bay than Detroit.  Read More
