July 1: Captioning Deadline. Television stations must be captioning clips of live or near-live TV programming used on their websites or mobile apps. This applies to all Full Power or Class A TV stations.
July 10: Issues/Programs List for Q2-2017 due in Public Inspection File.
July 10: Children's Television Reports Due. Records showing compliance with commercial limits on Children's Television Programming during Q2-2017 must be included in station's public inspection files. Also, Children's Television Programming Reports for Q2-2017 must be filed with the FCC and included in the stations' public inspection files.
July 10: Class A Television Station Documentation Due. Documentation of Class A Television continuing eligibility should be included in stations' public inspection files on this date. |

FCC Releases Instructions for Window for AM Stations to File for FM
According to
Broadcast Law Blog, the FCC released the Public Notice setting out
instructions for the upcoming window for Class C and D AM stations to file for new FM translators. The window will be open for the submission of applications from July 26 to August 2.

CMU's Orlik To Retire August 15
After 48 years at Central Michigan University, Dr. Peter Orlik will retire August 15. Dr. Orlik was the Director of the School of Broadcasting and Cinematic Arts from 1969 to 1979 and returned to the position in 1996. Read more here...

A memorial service has been arranged for former MAB Board President
Tom Scanlan. Scanlan passed away June 1 in Tucson, Arizona at age 76.

The MAB Foundation has learned that longtime broadcaster and educator
Pete Bowers has retired from Bloomfield Hills High School.
In 1976, Pete Bowers started the radio broadcasting program in Bloomfield Hills Schools. He has been the general manager of WBFH and the teacher of the electronic media courses for over 40 years. Read more here...
