2019 MAPB Public Media Impact Award Nominations Due June 5
There will be up to two awards given - one Professional (all professionals including volunteers working in public broadcasting) and one Donor (individuals or foundations). The recipients will be recognized following the 2019 MAB Advocacy Conference on August 6 at the JW Marriott in Grand Rapids. Learn More

EAS Region Change for St. Clair County
This past January, the State Emergency Communications Committee (SECC) met and approved a proposal to move St. Clair County from the Southeastern EAS Region to the adjacent East Central Region. Learn More

ABIP 11Spots are Filling Up. Book Your Station's 2019 ABIP Before its Too Late!
The MAB's Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) is a unique partnership between the MAB and the FCC under which stations that participate can receive a three-year exemption from routine FCC inspections. 2019 Inspections are now being scheduled during the months of July, August and September. A three-judge federal panel unanimously ruled last week that the 2011 district reapportionment plan for the state's 14 U. S. House districts, 38 Michigan Senate districts and 110 Michigan House districts is unconstitutional partisan gerrymanders.   Read More

The man behind one of the biggest rumors in rock history died April 30. Russ Gibb, the Detroit radio DJ who helped launch the legendary "Paul Is Dead" conspiracy, was 87 years old.  Read More

WLEN-FM Named 2019 Recipient of National Service to Community Award
WLEN-FM (Adrian) will be honored with the National Service to Community Award. This award is presented each year by the National Association of Broadcasters Leadership Foundation (NABLF) to honor the public service commitment that local radio and television stations make year-round to their communities.  Read More

AP Media Editor Broadcast Award Winners Announced
Winners of the 2018 Michigan Associated Press Media Editors annual newspaper and broadcast contests were announced on April 28 at ceremonies in Lansing. Seven Michigan television stations took home a combined 34 awards.  Read More

Matt Seward, managing editor of the Cadillac News, was elected president of the Michigan Associated Press Media Editors association for 2019-20 at the group's annual convention on April 28.  Vincent Duffy, news director at Michigan Radio in Ann Arbor, was named president-elect.   Read More
