Mark your calendars: the 2018 Broadcast Excellence Awards online entry system will open on November 9. Don't wait until the last minute to upload your best work from the past year, the January 11 entry deadline will come quickly after the new year holiday season. Winners will be presented March 6 at the Great Lakes Media Show. Learn more at

Entry System is Now Open for the 2019 Student Awards
The online entry system is now open for Michigan's broadcast students to participate in the MAB Foundation's annual awards program. Learn more at

Check IPAWS Certificate for Rescheduled National EAS Test
Stations are reminded that the previous IPAWS digital certificate expires September 24, 2018. To ensure a successful NPT test on the rescheduled date of October 3, you must install the updated CA file.   Read More
Limited Openings Still Available for 2018 Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program
The MAB has a few openings in ou r Alternative Broadcast
Inspection Program, (ABIP) for the weeks of November 5-
16. Once you pass an inspection, you will receive a 3-year
exemption keeping the FCC inspector from performing a routine inspection at your station.   Read More

Radio Royalty Fight May Resurface
Now that the Music Modernization Act passed both the U.S. House and Senate, the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) is reporting that the royalty fee fight related to radio airplay could soon come back. Read More

WLNS-TV's Bob Simone Promoted to Nexstar Massachusetts Station
Nexstar Media Group, Inc. announced on Monday that Robert "Bob" Simone has been promoted to Vice President and General Manager of WWLP-TV (NBC), EWLP (CW) and all associated digital services, including serving Springfield, Mass. He assumes his new responsibilities immediately.   Read More
