Have you considered fostering a Boston?
is the time offer to help as we are in need.
On a weekly basis MABTR gets in new faces of Bostons who are looking for a forever home. We can only take in Bostons when foster homes are available, as we will not board nor do we have runs for them to hang out in.
We can have all the money in the world but that does not help us to take in Bostons when foster homes are not available.
Our busiest areas where foster homes are in big demand are:
- Kansas City, MO and surrounding cities
- St Louis, MO
- Wichita, KS
- Omaha, NE and Lincoln
- Colorado (the whole state)
We would love to speak to you further about this wonderful service.
You can email us with your contact info or call us at 402-510-1346 to learn more. Click
to view our foster application.
Please take time to view the poster below that lists out all the great benefits of being a foster home. We look forward to you joining our family soon!

"Can I Bring My Dog?"
The Most Dog-Friendly Stores Across America
Dog people are doing more and more to make their pets comfortable, from lining up a favorite
. Bringing their dog along t
o the store is a natural extension of the dog-centric lifestyle. Shopping with a friend is more fun than shopping alone, period. But finding dog-friendly stores can be a challenge.
It can be hard to tell what a store's dog policy is because it often varies by location. For example, is Target dog-friendly? Their mascot may be the beautiful bull terrier Bullseye, but they're a staunch "service dog-only" environment (along with Sears, Staples, and others). However, dog-friendly stores are increasing in number.
due to regulation, grocery stores aren't dog-friendly and food-serving establishments typically don't allow dogs indoors. If you want to dine out with your dog, look for a location with a patio. Many restaurants welcome dogs in their outdoor spaces. Consider the Starbucks dog policy. Though Starbucks doesn't allow dogs inside stores, they welcome dogs outside-and even offer them a tasty "
" if you ask.
Now, let's talk dog-friendly stores where you can shop together.
: there are often treats at the register!
Before You Go Shopping with Your Dog
If you have a small dog, using a carrier is a smart way to go. There is a myriad of options for hands-free shopping, including slings and shoulder bags.
A comfortable, reliable collar and leash are key for bigger dogs.
11 Dog-Friendly Stores Nationwide
Before you go,
practice. A well-trained dog on leash is more likely to be a welcome guest.
Also, note that a busy retail environment may not be the best fit for all dogs. Be sure your dog is comfortable among crowds and well-socialized before you venture out on errands together. For more anxious pets, staying home might be a happier choice.
#1 - Petco/PetSmart
Let's start with the obvious. Petco and PetSmart, along with pretty much any pet store, will happily welcome your leashed dog.
#2 - Home Depot
Home Depot is one of many hardware stores that are happy to welcome your dog. With its wide aisles, there's plenty of space for leashed dogs to accompany you on a home improvement expedition.
#3 - Lowes
#4 - Tractor Supply Co.
Similar to Home Depot, inquiries to Lowes about canine corporate policy after 2012 received an official stance of "
service dogs only
," yet many
individual locations are still reported to be dog-friendly
by customers. Managers have differing views on the issue, so you'll have to call ahead-unless you're only going to hit up the Outdoor Living section, which is generally dog-friendly everywhere.
This popular national chain is proud to be dog-friendly at all of its locations. Apparently, Maddie Belle the golden retriever is one of their best customers. They posted her picture on their website to prove it.
#5 - Nordstrom
#10 - Macy's
Fashionista dog lovers, take note: Nordstrom and the Nordstrom Rack welcome well-behaved dogs on a leash (see
this Twitter exchange
as proof-via Doggone Seattle). There's even a
tag on Instagram if you're so inclined.
#6 - The Apple Store
#7 - Bass Pro Shops
Yes, in many locations, the Apple Store is happy to allow well-behaved dogs on leash. Customers have reported having to pick up their dogs if there is a great deal of foot traffic, which is something to keep in mind if your dog is a little too big for a lift.
Also, many of these stores are located in malls that may not be dog-friendly, so double-check before you go.
You might think it sounds fishy, but BPS wants to have your dog in-store, even letting locations
blog about and encourage it!
They even have a popular "Dog Days" event each year.
#8 - Pottery Barn
#9 - LUSH cosmetics
Surprisingly but truly, this high-end home goods chain often welcomes leashed dogs and purse pups. Call ahead to confirm, but chances are you can bring your pet along to select a new, seriously stylish doggy bowl.
Not only are dogs welcome in this store, but you can purchase your makeup from this company knowing that you both share a love for animals-Lush has a
no animal testing policy
for their products.
A parade of floats and balloons isn't the only thing Macy's encourages: a parade of pooches is okay too! According to
I Love Dogs
, Macy's has a notable history accepting dogs in their stores, including in-store courtesies and collaborations with the SPCA. Naturally, many Macy's are connected to larger malls, which may or may not welcome dogs inside. Always call ahead to inquire.
#11 - TJ Maxx / Marshalls
This discount clothing and home goods chain is known for being dog-friendly.
Like the other chains on this list, policies can vary by location, so double-check before you go.

MABTR Alumni - Khloe aka Puck
In August of 2012, the Kardashian sisters, along with their two brothers, arrived on the MABTR website.
Boston mom and her five puppies were found as strays. Father unknown. I watched every day for new posts. And, I wanted one!
I conned my husband into saying yes by telling him the dog would be good for our son. Every boy needs his own dog, right?
Our son picked Khloe. She was adorable! Khloe became Puck
. I wanted to name her Scout, but she was, after all, our son's dog.
Then our son went to college. Khloe/Puck, aka Puck Puck, became my Rooney Banoonie/Rooney. She went for walks with me every day, she slept next to me until Daddy came to bed, and she followed me around the house wherever I went. All of this remains constant for me and my Rooney.
She is my girl. I love all of our dogs, but she has my heart. I've never had a dog that picked me, until her. I've never loved a dog as much as I love her. And let me tell you, she knows it.
Our son will still try to claim her as his, but per MABTR rules, she's actually not! Ha! Mommy wins. Puck is mine.
DNA tests show she is a Boston/Poodle! Love my BosiPoo!

We ask that you help us educate the public about their options when looking for a new pet. We appreciate the fact that you are not purchasing your pet from a pet store that sells lives animals, since 98% of all puppies in a pet store come from terrible situations such as puppy mills. For more information on puppy mills visit our site and read all you need to know about puppy mills.

I wish applicants would make personality and behavior priority when adopting a dog but the truth is that a majority are not even interested in learning about a dog if it is out of their age range.
Remember that just because a dog is young does not guarantee he/she will live to be 14. MABTR cannot promise anyone how long a dog will live. We unfortunately have experienced the loss of a life at a very young age unexpectedly.
MABTR is not prejudiced when it comes to rescuing. A life is precious no matter
