Why do businesses join and participate in their local Chamber?
If you are reading this, you are either a member of our Chamber (YAY) or thinking about joining.
Membership in the Mayfield Area Chamber of Commerce is driven by three main motivations:
1. To find other markets for their goods and services
2. To find new and better sources for the goods and services they need
3. To be a part of our community
All three are important.
Whether you are a bank, a lawn service, or an attorney, you and your business are always in search of new clients or customers. Chamber events such as Before Hours Breakfasts, luncheons, or the Annual Golf Outing allow you to meet new people; people who may need your goods or services sometime in the future. (Not immediately. Don’t bring applications to lunch.) Networking at Chamber events a great way to build long-term relationships.
And just as you might find a new customer, you may also meet your future CPA, or banker, or favorite place to get pizza. Most of the vendors my business uses were the result of a casual conversation at a Chamber lunch. I am not alone.
The last, and often overlooked benefit, is your opportunity to be involved in our community. Our Chamber awards four $1,000 scholarships every year to graduating seniors of Mayfield High School, the school that serves our member communities. That is just one of the meaningful ways you can get involved.
If you aren’t a member, let this be my invitation to join. And if you are already a member, I hope that this quick reminder of why you joined will help to motivate you to become more active now that we are able to meet again in person.
