Behavioral Health Telehealth Options Expanded
Under the new
2019 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has removed restrictions in Medicare around originating sites for telehealth services used to treat substance use disorder (SUD) and co-occurring mental health disorders. Previously, patients were limited to telehealth appointments only when calling from specific locations, such as their primary care provider's office. The new rule removes these originating site geographic requirements and adds individuals' homes as permissible originating sites for telehealth services, greatly increasing access to SUD treatment, especially for individuals in rural and frontier communities.

Social Workers, Share Your Story Today
Seeking inspiring stories for publication in multiple outlets
NASW-NJ is collecting stories of social workers in New Jersey--stories of social workers creating programs, leading research, helping clients, students, driving community advocacy, providing clinical support, etc. We plan to begin sharing these stories in March 2019 during Social Work Month via our online blog, social media, FOCUS, and will even feature a few as part of our collaboration with New Jersey Monthly Magazine.
Do you know a social worker who is doing exceptional things in our state? Do you have a story to share? We'd love to hear!
Please complete the form to nominate a social worker--and remember, all submissions must be of individuals with a formal social work degree (BSW, MSW, PhD, DSW)!

Support Family Leave Insurance Enhancements
As women's rights and worker protections are under assault in Washington, here in NJ we have the opportunity to expand rights for women and anyone who cares for family members while juggling work responsibilities. A precious newborn or a dying parent need our devoted care - but sadly not everyone can afford to take time off from work to provide that care.
A bill that would overhaul the New Jersey Family Leave Insurance program and move us closer to a paid leave program that works for everyone is up for a final vote in both houses of the New Jersey State Legislature on Monday.
Some of the exciting improvements included in this bill are:
- Increasing the weekly wage replacement to 85% of a worker's average weekly wage (capped at 70% of the Average Weekly Wage in NJ);
- Expanding the paid time available from 6 to 12 weeks;
- Expanding job protection for an estimated 200,000 workers;
- Expanding the definition of family to cover grandparents and grandkids, siblings, adult children, parents-in-law, and chosen family.
