Opioid Prescribing Behaviors — Prescription Behavior Surveillance System, 11 States, 2010–2016
Over the years of available data collected, declines in state opioid prescribing rates ranged from 14.9% to 33.0%. During this period, the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program was introduced, requiring prescribers in some states to review the prescription drug database before prescribing controlled substances.
