ENGAGED COMMUNITY

I-Lead Youth Program Welcomes New Student Leaders

The I-Lead Youth Program is excited to kick off the 2026–2027 school year by welcoming new student leaders. Following a competitive application and interview process, 18 new students were selected to join the I-Lead Student Advisory Board, while 16 students were chosen to serve as I-Lead Ambassadors. Together with returning Student Advisory Board members, the I-Lead Youth Program now includes 40 student leaders representing approximately 10 public and 5 private high schools across Mobile County.

Throughout the year, I-Lead students will engage in leadership development, community service, college and career readiness experiences, and opportunities to connect with local leaders. The Student Advisory Board will also help guide the planning and execution of events throughout the year, ensuring youth voices continue to shape conversations around education, leadership, workforce development, and community well-being.

With an exciting year ahead, this group of I-Lead student leaders is ready to grow, serve, and make a meaningful impact throughout Mobile County. MAEF looks forward to supporting these students as they build the skills, confidence, and connections to become the next generation of community leaders.

CAREER-READY YOUTH

MAEF Workforce Center Participants Prepare for Career Success

The MAEF Workforce Center recently held its Completion Ceremony, honoring the achievements of our 2025–2026 participants and featuring a speech from City Councilman Cory Penn. With 130 students enrolled, the program provided a pathway to both education and career opportunities. We’re proud to announce that 19 students earned their high school diploma this year!

Beyond diplomas, students gained valuable workforce skills in healthcare, maritime, advanced manufacturing, CDL, OSHA-10, and postsecondary preparation. Many participants also secured career placements, equipping them for success in the workforce.

This program wouldn’t be possible without our partners and sponsors, whose support empowers us to serve these young adults. We sincerely thank you for helping create brighter futures. We look forward to welcoming a new group of participants this August!

The State of Youth in Mobile County

Did you know nearly 90% of our students graduate ready for college or careers, yet only 36% pursue postsecondary education or military service? The Partnership for Youth Success is committed to changing that and empowering every young person to chart their path.
