MAG NEWS & UPDATES - December 2025

Executive Director's Corner

As we close out the year, I’m excited to share an important new initiative for MAG in 2026. During the upcoming Utah State Legislative Session, MAG will host a weekly Thursday lunch for our mayors, county commissioners and councilmembers, and regional partners. These lunches will provide a dedicated space to connect, discuss legislative priorities, share updates on progress and development, and strengthen coordination throughout the session. This effort reflects MAG’s commitment to being more engaged, informed, and proactive at the Legislature. Calendar invites will be hitting your inbox, but if you have any questions please reach out to Johnathon Knapton, MAG's Director of Public and Government Relations.

As we look toward the new year, I want to thank our communities and partners for a productive 2025. Your collaboration continues to shape a strong, forward-thinking region, and we look forward to building on that momentum in 2026.

I wish you a wonderful holiday season and look forward to working together in the year ahead.

-Michelle Carroll, MPA

Completed TIP Projects

Our cities had a productive year completing transportation projects! The following projects were completed in 2025 using MAG Transportation Improvement Program funding:

  • Eagle Mountain Blvd / Pony Express Pkwy Traffic Signal
  • Eagle Mountain Airport Rd New Construction
  • Lehi 2300 W Widening
  • Orem 1200 S / 400 W Roundabout
  • Provo BYU Central Campus UVX Station
  • Santaquin Main St Widening
  • Goshen Center St Trail

MAG provides funding to cities for regionally significant transportation projects. We hope these improvements in 2025 will help relieve traffic congestion and improve quality of life in Utah County.

At the beginning of 2026, MAG will begin the process of selecting new projects to be funded in 2029 and 2030. Stay tuned!

2027-2055 Regional Transportation Plan Website

The MAG MPO is excited to announce the launch of a new website, magutah.gov/2027rtp/, for the upcoming 2027-2055 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) to be adopted in early summer 2027!

What is the RTP?

The RTP serves as a fiscally constrained, multi-modal Transportation blueprint, outlining regionally significant roadway, transit, and active transportation (pedestrian and bicycle) projects through the year 2055. Developed in phases, the plan ensures projects are delivered in a fiscally responsible and strategically prioritized manner.

What's on the new website?

The website provides a RTP process overview, resources presented to the MPO committees, and opportunities for stakeholders and the public to get involved. As 2026 will be a significant year for RTP development, we encourage you to subscribe for when major, new content is added to the site.

Other Important Website Updates:

We have also revamped our existing RTP websites. The URL for our current 2023 TransPlan50 RTP is now magutah.gov/2023rtp. The main portal for both the current and upcoming RTP is now magutah.gov/rtp. This central portal also contains links to other related documents and plans, such as the Wasatch Choice Vision and our current RTP amendment policy.
