2021 Immunization Symposium
October 14, 2021
8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Central)
Held virtually via Zoom

This also is a continuing education (CE) eligible event for nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers and community health workers.
The event's two keynote speakers are:

Dr. Greg Poland, M.D.
As a doctor and researcher at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN), Dr. Poland specializes in immunogenetics of vaccine response in both adults and children. Along with his team at the Vaccine Research Group, his aim is to improve the health of individuals worldwide by addressing challenges in clinical and epidemiologic research. The Vaccine Research Group, which Poland leads, uses immunological testing, such as cell-mediated immunity, to research new ways to treat disease. In 2007, Poland coined the term “vaccinomics” to refer to the development of personalized vaccines on an increased understanding of immune response. Along with his research, Dr. Poland received the Secretary of Defense Award for Excellence in 2008. He received his MD from the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, IL and completed his residency, where he served as the Chief Resident, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital.
Dr. Kevin Ault, M.D., FACOG
Dr. Ault’s research and clinical interests are infectious diseases and women’s health. He has been an investigator in a wide variety of research projects involving maternal immunization and human papillomavirus. Dr. Ault is a Professor and Director of Clinical and Translation Research at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Kansas Medical Center. In 2018, Dr. Ault was selected to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. Dr. Ault is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a fellow of the Infectious Society of America and is one of the few physicians in the United States with both honors.

Spread the word: MAIC is hosting FREE
flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinics

Once again this Fall, Walgreens is providing vaccines so we can run our free clinics. At most clinics, both the flu and COVID-19 immunizations will be available to the public. See the schedule below or on our web site's immunization page.

Don't miss: Hall-of-famer and former KC Chiefs player,
Will Shields (above) will be signing autographs for anyone who receives a vaccine from 5 to 6 p.m. at our Salvation Army Olathe clinic on Friday, Sept. 17. Tell all the Chiefs' fans you know! The direct link to our vaccine clinic calendar to share is: https://nurturekc.org/solutions/immunization#vaccine-schedule-2021

This Friday’s clinic is offering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, which is two doses and available for those ages 12 and older. Our partner, El Centro, will also have tamales, corn on the cob, snow cones and prizes, such as QuikTrip gift cards, for those who get vaccinated. Nurture KC will have a drawing for two $50 Walmart gift cards for those getting immunized.

All clinic locations will take walk-ins or you can schedule an appointment.
MAIC's first flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinic of the Fall at the Mexican Consulate on Sept. 11, 2021. Thank you to our staff and volunteers who made it possible.
