School Immunization Requirements

Welcome back! MAIC just wrapped up Immunization Awareness Month with a flurry of pro-vaccine outreach efforts.

First, I hope you were able to share some of the immunization materials in my weekly emails to MAIC members with your networks. These grassroot type of connections are valuable in helping MAIC increase public awareness and improve access to life-saving immunization.

Also, thank you to our MAIC members who shared "Why We Care about Vaccination" on Nurture KC's social media channels. Your involvement is appreciated. You can see some of these graphics below in this issue. I encourage you to like or share these posts on Facebook and Twitter to help us spread the word.

Our busiest season of the year is quickly approaching. We are hosting a number of flu and COVID vaccine clinics and need your help! Please consider volunteering.

As always, thank you for your support.

Nurture KC Named to Impact 100

Big news! Nurture KC is proud to be an inaugural Impact 100 organization by the United Way of Greater Kansas City

United Way launched Impact 100 to provide funding to 100 organizations addressing vital health and human service needs in our community. Nurture KC will use the funding to continue to improve maternal and infant health in Kansas City.

 'Back to the Vax'

MAIC hosted a webinar featuring a former anti-vax mom, who is now pro-immunization. Lydia Greene shared her moving journey. Here's a snippet ...

"I fell for the anti-vax rhetoric and into the rabbit hole of vaccine misinformation. SIDS, autism, allergies. I became consumed by awful stories without scientific backing. I believed these parents and supposed health professionals. I believed I was saving my child," Lydia says. "Then I started reading scientific rebuttals to many of the talking points I heard over and over. The facts and evidence don't lie. Although it took some time, I pulled myself out of fear, did the research and learned the facts. I talked with a nurse who worked with me to get my kids back on track with vaccines. Now, I no longer feel nervous. I'm just happy to protect the health of my kids through immunization."
