A NOTE FROM BETTY:
OUR SHARED MILESTONES
Connections recently celebrated a major milestone - our 35th birthday! On October 31,1984, religious and community leaders held an all-night vigil to provide shelter for homeless neighbors. That night a pastor exclaimed, "We have only begun to fight." Connections has continued to lead the fight to end homelessness every day since.
This Saturday, staff members, more than 200 participants, and 150 volunteers will come together for our annual Thanksgiving Celebration. The event includes a holiday meal, activities, and resources under the same roof that we held that first vigil 35 years ago.
Then, on December 4, we will gather for a
Milestone Celebration
to honor the achievements of participants, a staff member, and a volunteer. The event will be at First United Methodist Church where we will soon open the region's only shelter for women, outside of domestic violence services.
As we evolve and expand, I am so grateful for our community roots. They continue to inspire our commitment to lead the fight to end homelessness, one person at a time.
In thanks,
