HAMPTON - The HRBT Expansion Project will enter the next phase of construction for the Mallory Street bridge widening in Hampton overnight this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday when crews install bridge beams over I-64.
Between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., all eastbound traffic will be diverted off the interstate at the Mallory Street exit. Traffic will be brought back onto the interstate at the eastbound on-ramp to I-64. Local police will control the Mallory Street intersection.
In the westbound direction, crews will conduct six intermittent stoppages of up to 30 minutes each. Traffic will be released for travel between stoppages. The westbound off-ramp to Mallory Street will also be closed on these nights, and a signed detour will be in place.
Motorists can expect significant delays during this work. All construction schedules are pending weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
