MALSCE Needs Outreach Display Photographs

Members of the MALSCE Public Awareness Committee are planning to have a pop-up banner made that they can use when visiting schools, STEM career fairs, and appropriate conferences to talk about careers in land surveying. They are looking for copyright-free photographs of the latest survey technologies being used in various setting and other images that illustrate the diversity of the individuals, equipment, and fields of practice within the profession of surveying.

If you have a photo you'd like to share, send it to Michelle Monette at mmonette@engineers.org.

Volunteer to Judge the New England Future City Competition

National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) is looking for MALSCE members who are professional land surveyors to be volunteer judges during the New England Regional Future City Competition, which occurs on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. Future City is a national, project-based learning experience in which 40,000 students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades from 1,350 schools imagine, design, and build cities of the future. They create a virtual city and then build a 3D model for judges to grade. NCEES needs land surveyors to judge a special award for best land surveying practices.

If you are interested in getting involved, email malsce@engineers.org.

Join the MALSCE Public Awareness Committee

The recently reconstructed MALSCE Public Awareness Committee is charged with promoting the general recognition and acceptance of the practice of land surveying and survey engineering and stimulating a greater interest in public perceptions affecting the profession. Committee chair David Prince, PLS, from WSP, has been holding regular meetings and member of the committee have made several visits to promote a career in land surveying to secondary school students.
