Dear Members of MALSCE,


As fall has officially arrived, while most in New England appreciate the colors of the fall foliage, we wait for the leaves to drop and clear our sight lines. We held our annual Fall Board & Chapters Dinner Meeting last week. We heard from Stephen LaMonica, PE, PLS, chief surveyor from the Massachusetts Land Court. Stephen introduced the new Land Court website and process for requesting and obtaining plans and documents that previously required a visit to Boston. Additionally, at the meeting, we elected Rock Eisenheim, PLS, from DGT Associates, to take over as chair for our Legislative Committee for long-serving outgoing chair, Scott Cameron, PLS, from R. E. Cameron & Associates. I appreciate Scott’s efforts throughout his years of service in this role.  ... Read more

The MALSCE Board of Directors would like to thank all MALSCE members who have paid their fiscal year 2024 dues. Your timely payment helps ensure that MALSCE has the financial support it needs to sustain its operations. Prompt payment of your dues also ensures that you continue to receive the numerous benefits that MALSCE has to offer through June 30, 2024.

 

Second dues renewal invoices were emailed at the end of August. Third invoices will be sent shortly. If you did not receive or retain your MALSCE dues invoice or have any questions, please email malsce@engineers.org.

There is still time to become a 2023-2024 MALSCE Sustaining Member. MALSCE Government Affairs Update October 2023

Join the MALSCE Public Awareness Committee

 

The recently reconstructed MALSCE Public Awareness Committee is charged with promoting the general recognition and acceptance of the practice of land surveying and survey engineering and stimulating a greater interest in public perceptions affecting the profession. Committee chair David Prince, PLS, from WSP, has been holding regular meetings and member of the committee have made several visits to promote a career in land surveying to secondary school students.

MALSCE Education Trust Accepting

2024 Scholarship Applications


The MALSCE Education Trust was founded to enhance the profession of land surveying and civil engineering in Massachusetts by providing scholarship and education grants for the students of land surveying and civil engineering who are Massachusetts residents. Now through November 30, the Trust is accepting applications for its Surveying Certificate Program Scholarship, Memorial Scholarship, and 2024 UMaine Scholarship.

The MALSCE Education Trust is a 501(c) (3) organization that invests in students and educators for the future of the land surveying and civil engineering professions. UMaine has several different surveying degree and certificate programs available online, click here to learn more. Franklin Cummings Tech (formerly Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology) is now offering professional land surveying courses for those currently working in surveying. Other universities with online surveying and geomatics programs options include Ferris State University and Oregon Institute of Technology.
