President's Message

Dear MANA Members,

After a brief hiatus, I’m pleased to share that the MANA newsletter is returning. During this time, we’ve reflected on how to make this resource more valuable for our community. Moving forward, we commit to featuring key updates, upcoming events, member highlights, corporate member highlights, and opportunities to engage through the newsletter to promote new sharing and engagement within our MANA membership.

As we look ahead, we’re especially excited for MANA 2026 in Davis, CA, along with continued virtual events and community-driven programming largely driven by our interest groups. We also extend our sincere thanks to our corporate members, whose support helps make many of these efforts possible. Be sure to contact the MANA communications committee (communications@metabolomicsna.org) if you wish to feature a highlight or event in the newsletter, or myself (president@metabolomicsna.org) if you have questions on how to further engage with MANA.

In this issue, find out more about MANA 2026, how to get involved with MANA, and get updates from our corporate members. Remember to also check our website at metabolomicsna.org, and browse through MANA activities including conferences, virtual symposia, interest groups, and our job board.

We hope this newsletter is valuable for you to stay connected and engaged!

With Warm Regards,

Ewy Mathé, your MANA President

A Message from Our Host

With fresh energy to MANA 2026!

Days after concluding the metabolomics workshops and sessions at the ASMS 2026 conference, we have now closed abstract submissions for MANA 2026. It looks great!

We are excited to meet at the sunny UC Davis conference center from September 08-11 with 15 sponsors, 10 oral sessions, 3 award sessions, 5 invited speakers, 3 ninety-minute poster evening receptions and the first-ever “State of Metabolomics Services 2026” session. Wow! In addition, we have selected eight workshop and interactive forum discussions to explore your views spanning from the exposome, imaging and single-cell analyses to metabolomics standardization, data mining, best practices and the costs of innovation in core facilities.

Early-bird registration closes on July 15. Don’t lose your spot!

Waters Introduces the Xevo™ MRT P10 for Next-Generation Metabolomics and Spatial Biology

Waters is excited to introduce the Xevo™ MRT P10, a new high-performance mass spectrometer designed to expand speed and confidence in metabolomics, lipidomics, and spatial biology research. The Xevo MRT P10 delivers exceptional resolving power, mass accuracy, and molecular specificity, helping researchers tackle increasingly complex biological questions. New capabilities include up to 200 Hz MS/MS acquisition and unmatched sensitivity for deep discovery, delivering class-leading MS and MS/MS performance with up to a 20× improvement in MS/MS sensitivity. This enhanced sensitivity enables greater analyte coverage and improved detection of low-abundance molecules across diverse metabolomics workflows. When coupled with DESI imaging, researchers can perform high-throughput spatial metabolomics with enhanced molecular specificity and coverage, enabling deeper insights into tissue biology and disease processes.

Visit Waters at MANA 2026 to learn how the Xevo MRT P10 can accelerate discovery through enhanced molecular characterization and spatially resolved metabolomics.

Connect with Bruker at the 8th Annual MANA Conference!

As multiomics studies continue to expand, metabolomics is increasingly recognized as the functional layer that connects genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic changes to biological phenotype. Realizing this potential requires metabolomics data that can be generated reproducibly, compared across laboratories, and integrated seamlessly with other omics datasets. Yet challenges in standardization, data processing, and cross-lab comparability continue to limit broader adoption.

The Metabolon Verus Metabolomics Profiling Kit was developed to help address these barriers through a standardized metabolomics workflow spanning data generation, automated processing, and biological interpretation. Combined with our Integrated Bioinformatics Platform, the kit supports seamless multiomics integration, enabling researchers to generate reproducible data, collaborate across teams with confidence, and accelerate the translation of complex molecular data into meaningful biological insights.

Hello fellow MANA colleagues!

An open-access article published in Analytical Chemistry demonstrates that when technical variances are corrected and a Dual MSTUS normalization is applied to a highly variable multi-batch dataset, the statistical power, quality, reproducibility, and fidelity of the results are significantly enhanced. We conducted careful statistical evaluation and biological validation to ensure that the correction had effectively removed batch effects without losing biological signal, despite the introduction of source manipulations across the six batch analyses.

Please enjoy the article and let us know if you have any questions.

We're excited to be part of the MANA 2026 conference (September 8–11, Davis, CA) and proud to support metabolomics researchers with best-in-class stable isotope-labelled internal standards for LC-MS.

Working with LGC Standards and Toronto Research Chemicals, our catalogue spans bile acids and conjugates, acyl carnitines, amino acids, steroids, drug metabolites, and beyond — covering the breadth of today's metabolomics workflows. More than a supplier, we partner with researchers to design internal standards tailored to their specific analytical challenges, helping deliver the accuracy and confidence your data demands.
