MANDATORY SAFEGUARDS TRAINING INFORMATION

Several NEIADA members have taken this course and found it extremely helpful in complying with Safeguards Rule!!

COMPLYING WITH THE SAFEGUARDS RULE

Beginning December 9, 2022, all dealers and employees who work with customer personal information will be required to complete the specialized training in order to be in compliance with the Safeguards and Privacy Rules of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.  

This quick, easy, and affordable program fulfills the FTC's training requirements.  Your dealership will need to identify a Qualified Individual and also provide training for all employees who have access to customer information.  

WHO NEEDS TO COMPLETE THE SAFEGUARDS TRAINING?

* You must designate one QUALIFIED INDIVIDUAL.  The "Complying with the Safeguards Rule- Qualified Individual" training is designed to better help them understand their duties in this role

*All employees who have access to customers personal information are required to complete the "Complying with the Safeguards Rule- All Employees" training

This two-course program includes model Safeguards Policies and Agreements for your dealership at no additional charge. 

Course for the Qualified Individual

The course for the Qualified Individual will take under 60 minutes to complete. The course was designed with your time and budget in mind. The course for the Qualified Individual only costs $75 and is flexible to their  schedule.

The course for the Qualified Individual covers the requirements for the Safeguards Rule’s “Qualified Individual” and Privacy Rule of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. The course covers information that only the qualified individual is required to know, such as what to do in a data breach. This course also provides all the model policies as the Qualified Individual is responsible for making sure the dealership has policies related to safeguarding information.

Course for All Other Employees

The course for all other dealership employees will take around 30 minutes to complete. Like the course for the Qualified Individual, this course was designed to be flexible and affordable and only costs $49 per user.

The course for all other employees covers the requirements for the Safeguards Rule and Privacy Rule of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. Information covered includes, but is not limited to, data retention and disposal, privacy notice requirements, and use of nonpublic personal information.

Any dealership with more than 10 employees who need to take the course receives both the course for the Qualified Individual and the course for all other employees for only $40 per user.
