Download MANNA's Guide to Low-To-No Contact Food Distribution.

Walking you through the process of updating your food distribution based on safe best practices during COVID-19.

During a drive-through distribution set food boxes on a curbside table and ask the client to put in their own car or trunk. This keeps staff/ volunteers from touching client's cars.

Client cannot physically lift the food box? Simply ask them to open the trunk or car door, step away, and allow staff or volunteer to place in car. The client can then close the trunk or car door. A contact-free distribution!

FUNDING ALERT - Food Lion COVID-19 Hunger Relief Fund

Food Lion recognizes and appreciates efforts to help local communities and agency partners during this unprecedented time. Their goal is to continue providing support to help nourish our neighbors impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Recently Food Lion announced an additional pledge of $3.1 million dollars, where $1 million of that will provide additional funding to help feeding agencies address the outbreak’s hunger-relief impacts and increased demand in their community through our newly created national COVID-19 Hunger Relief Fund.
The COVID-19 Hunger Relief Fund is a competitive grant cycle now open for agency partners currently in operation during the pandemic. Food Bank partner agency 501(c)3 nonprofits that meet eligibility requirements may apply. Additional details are as follows:
Subject to funding availability, grants may be awarded to nonprofits that meet the following eligibility:
  • 501 (c) 3 organizations with an established track record of service provision with a Food Lion Food Bank partner
  • Organizations must have a demonstrated ability to deploy resources quickly and effectively.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis through April 17.
  • Grant recipients will be notified by April 27 of their awarded amount.
  • Funds will be dispersed directly to their affiliated food bank for faster distribution to agency partners.

Many communities and county governments are asking us to direct people seeking food resources to the appropriate agency. To that end it is imperative that you communicate your pantry status and any changes to operations with MANNA as frequently as possible.
  • Have you changed you distribution dates or hours of distribution?
  • Will you be shifting to a different style of food distribution? (Example: Drive through or pre-boxed food)
  • Do you need volunteers from the community?
