Commission Johnson Visiting MANP Connects this Friday
The workforce shortage is impacting Maine nonprofits in myriad ways and alongside our partners at National Council of Nonprofits, MANP is advocating in favor of federal reforms.

This Friday, April 15, join MANP for a special one-hour MANP Connects with Commissioner Heather Johnson of Maine Department of Economic and Community Development. Commissioner Johnson will share how the state is contending with the workforce crisis and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and share the specific challenges they are facing.
DOL Announces Listening Sessions on Possible Overtime Rule Changes
The Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division previously announced that it is reviewing the regulations that implement the Fair Labor Standard Act’s minimum wage and overtime exemptions.

DOL has now announced additional virtual listening sessions, for both worker (April 27) and employer (May 13) stakeholders. The agency seeks stakeholder input on issues such as:
  • the appropriate salary level above which the exemptions for bona fide executive, administrative, or professional employees may apply;
  • the costs and benefits of increasing the salary level to employers and employees, including increasing wages and reducing litigation costs;
  • the best methodology for updating the salary level, and the appropriate frequency of updates;
  • whether other changes to the overtime regulations are warranted.

Learn
Find Your Board Match
Nonprofits rely on board members to guide strategic direction, provide fiscal oversight, bring creative ideas, and make connections. MANP regularly hears from nonprofits that board recruitment is a top challenge, and on the flipside, we hear from community members interested in sharing their skills and perspectives and growing as leaders who aren’t sure how to find an opportunity that is the right fit.

Whether your nonprofit is recruiting board members or you're an individual interested in joining a board, MANP is here to help!

  • Learn about board service and how to get started. Join us next Friday for a free lunch and learn (April 22, 12pm ET).
  • Make connections through MANP's Board Explorer, which helps member organizations and potential board members find one another.
  • Learn from peers. How does your board recruit new board members? Take this one-question flash poll and we'll share back what we learn with readers.
