September @ MAP
Welcome Back MAP families!
Although summer seems to have flown right before our eyes, we are so excited to start the new year with both new and familiar faces! During the first MAP week, our newcomers adjusted well to our daily routines and those who attended MAP last year had no issue in showing them the ropes! If you haven't noticed, we’ve also done a mini make-over on in our main room, and have maximized space and efficiency to ensure kids get the most out of all we have to offer.
September was a month jam-packed with awesome projects and activities. To list a few, we created adorable mini objects with Leah, had pom pom parties with Nicole, and built awesome craft stick creations with Eric. We also learned about book binding with Dessire and explored the magic of fluorescent light with Katelyn. We are incredibly excited for all that is to come next month, we have no doubt that it’ll be MAPtastic.
1st Round of Clubs have begun!
(Clubs at the Pfaff run from 3:30-5:00)
Mondays: Outdoor Adventure Club
Leah’s outdoor adventures club will tie in the great outdoors with some strategic activities. During the first two weeks of “Outdoor Adventures” club, the kids played a colored scavenger hunt, finding objects in their surroundings the coordinated with different colors. The kids also did a treasure hunt, encouraging kids to work together in order to find “the pot of gold” at Hinkley Pond.
Tuesdays: Magic the Gathering Club
A club favorite! The kids have been able to jump right into the Magic craze, learning the ins and outs of the ever so popular card game. The first few weeks were dedicated to understanding the game and creating their decks. Kids will later have the opportunity to participate in their own Magic: The Gathering tournament.
Wednesdays: How to Draw Club w/Maddie
. The kids will be fortunate enough to learn basic drawing, cartooning and anime techniques from Maddie who is a very skilled artist. Kids will come away feeling more confident about their drawing skills
Thursdays: Cooking Club w/
Desiree’s “Make it, Bake it” will have mouths watering with her awesome, and easy to make recipes. Kids will learn how to cook delicious meals while also learning about safety in the kitchen. In the first club, the kids made pumpkin pancakes topped with whipped cream and in second, sweet and savory chicken sided a choice of corn or pineapples.
Fridays: Haunted Forest Club with Kurt
. Kids will have the opportunity to create a spooky experience for kids at the K-1 site who dare to step foot inside. The Haunted Forest will be presented at Memorial School on Friday, October 25th.
