CHANEY DELAIRE

ARTIST RECEPTION

Our Second Saturday celebration was a huge success and the weather was perfect! A special thank you for the delicious appetizers from Tropcalia Brazilian Cuisine and for the mystery friend who covered the cost! Please be sure to thank Tropicalia owners, Samuel and Constance Athayde next time you stop by their place for an acai bowl, fresh smoothies, crepe or other yummy dish. John Canalin's mellow music was the perfect accompaniment. Thank you, John! And of course, big thanks to everyone who arrived early and stayed late to make it all happen. Kids and adults really enjoyed taking part in the art demonstration.

MEMBERSHIP MEETING

Our next membership meeting will be Thursday, March 10 at 11 am at the Manley Art Center. Amongst other topics, we will discuss the status of the remodel and the Jay Mosby memorial garden. We'd like to know if a switch to quarterly evening meetings would boost member attendance and we can talk about this idea at the meeting too.

FESTIVALS

At our February 10 meeting, the Board discussed the Festival of Art at the Park (FAP) and the fact that none of our members has volunteered to chair the event and so this event will not be held this year. By the time you read this newsletter, a decision about the Azalea Festival of Arts Show will also have been made. Thankfully, Nola Range continues to chair Art at the Port and this popular event will continue for the third year.

ARTIST TALKS, WORKSHOPS & CLASSES

Artist talks, workshops and classes have come back. Mary Ann Antenucci has been busy engaging with the artists and setting up the schedule. Sharon Guy will be teaching a children's class in April. Be sure to watch for announcements and updates through emails, Facebook (Manley Art Center) and our website (manleyartcenter.com). We will continue offering in person and ZOOM options.

STAFF & COORDINATOR NEWS

Stacey Reynolds, our Art Center Director, is busy becoming familiar with our operations. She will be updating the website, coordinating the gallery and much more. We are so happy she is here!

CHANGES

Pamela Thorsch (VP and membership Coordinator) is no longer involved with the art center. We appreciate the work she did with membership outreach and renewals and with identifying artists for talks and workshops. Gwenn Childers has been appointed Vice President. Gwen and her husband, Brian, have been members for several years and Gwenn previously served as secretary. Thank you Gwenn.

Let's all do our part to help make the Manley Art center shine!
