March 2023 Newsletter

Welcome to our first newsletter of 2023! 

As People's Place embarks on our next 50-year journey, I would like to thank you for all the support you gave us during our Golden Jubilee year. Because of your support, it was a record year of helping our local community.

In 2022, we provided the equivalent of over:  

1.375 MILLION meals through our food security programs.

24,500 personal care items from our pantry.

9,200 items of FREE clothing were distributed via our Thrift Store.

2,400 children received gift packages during Project Santa (adding up over 36,000 items). 

Over 1,500 furry family members (dogs and cats) were given pet food through our Pet Pantry.

Your help, whether it was donating funds, participating in our special events, donating clothing or household items, volunteering, sharing our social media stories or just having a kind word of encouragement assists us in building a better community for all of us to live and enjoy life.

ANNOUNCEMENTS!

NEW BOARD MEMBER EDDIE PARKER!

We warmly welcome new Board Member Eddie Parker. Eddie is a Kingston native who briefly left us to attend Temple University. After earning his bachelors degree and playing football professionally in the NFL, Eddie returned to Ulster County and currently lives here with his wife Danielle. Eddie is a devoted dad to his four children: Davon, Ari, Sydney & Carrington.

After years of service, Eddie retired from his position as a NYS Juvenile Corrections Officer.

Not one to sit still, Eddie owns and operates his businesses - EAP PRODUCTIONS DJ SERVICE and Perfections Car Detailing Cleaning Service.

We are thrilled to welcome Eddie to our Board of Directors!

A great fun way to support feeding Ulster County! One grand prize of 12 $100.00 gift certificates to local restaurants. "UNITY IN THE COMMUNITY"

Tuesday Farm Stand returns on April 11, 2023!

This seasonal program which runs every Tuesday from April to the end of October offers free fresh produce from local Hudson Valley Farms. It begins at approximately 8:30am and goes until 11 AM or until produce runs out, whichever is first. No ID is required for this program. Please bring your own bags.

SOUL FOOD WEDNESDAYS!



Will be held on the last Wednesday evenings of each month beginning on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, in our Community Cafe, located at 777 Broadway, from 5:00pm - 6:30pm. All delicious food will be prepared by Chef Lori Ferguson (pictured below). Join us! First come first served while supplies last.

WELLNESS EMPOWERMENT CENTER

Free Workshops! All Welcome!

Striving to enhance the quality of an individual's life and help them build a stronger, healthier future through wellness classes, health screenings, nutritional guidance, alternative health modalities, and financial education.

We have fun, safe and rewarding volunteer opportunities available for interested individuals, Monday - Friday, 9:30am - 1:30pm and Wednesday evenings from 4:30pm - 7:30pm. Please fill out an application and our volunteer coordinator will follow-up and schedule a tour of People's Place with you. We'll find the right fit for your interests and strengths.
