From the Pastor
Dearest Gentle Readers,
Last month, Robert and I preached on the topic of mental health. We looked at Job’s story, Ruth and Naomi’s story, and looked at the book of John when someone was blamed for their own blindness.
We wanted to make a few things clear.
1) Ruth Goodrich is NOT to blame for all of FCC’s cold related symptoms.
2) Sin does not cause poor mental health. Jesus told us that.
3) Grief can cause loneliness and despair, but it will not keep you from God’s love nor make you unworthy of love from our community. God showed us that.
4) You are not betraying God nor your faith, nor your faith community by admitting your pain and anguish. God WANTS you to share your pain and anguish and serve each other in the midst of pain and anguish. Scriptures speak that truth.
If you heard the Holy Spirit encouraging you to share your grief, your anguish, and your loneliness, then please, share it because someone out there might need to hear your story.
If you, or anyone you know, is deep in the grasp of depression, hopelessness, or helplessness, Robert and I are one of your safe places.
We have ears that can listen and a list of resources just for you: support groups, counselors, and access to professionals around Oskaloosa.
You are loved, you are loved, you are loved,
The Reverends Goodrich
