Hi Friends!

Who's ready for some March Dance Madness? We've got an incredible lineup of social dances coming up this month—from Balboa to Zydeco, there's a style for everyone to try. Plus, stay tuned for details about a multi-dance discount on Sunday, March 22. We hope you'll come have a ball with us at the Park!

This Sunday, March 1, do-si-do and swing your partner at an afternoon Bumper Car Squares dance! No need to worry about the weather, we'll meet up in the (heated!) Ballroom Back Room for some square dance fun with caller Dave Hauver and live music by Dakota Karper Trio, or waltz the afternoon away with Waltz Time in our historic ballroom while enjoying live music by WALTZ SISTERS (TRIO).

Co-presented with EducArte, Sarau de Samba is a joyous monthly celebration of Afro-Brazilian culture. Each session starts with a beginner dance lesson and is open to people of any skill level, no partner or instruments required. Join the celebration at the next Sarau de Samba on Sunday, March 15!

Our second Salsa & Bachata y más! will take place on March 20! We'll start the evening off with beginner lessons in Salsa & Bachata followed by open dancing with a DJ. This series meets on the third Friday of the month in the Ballroom Back Room, open to all levels of experience. Expect friendly faces and effortless connection!

Sunday, March 22, join us for a Cajun/Zydeco dance to live music by Rose & The Bros, a powerhouse ensemble rooted in southern dance tradition. The band has a distinctive rhythmic presence which is based in the Louisiana sound, with additional Reggae and melodic drum tones. We'll start off the afternoon with a beginner-friendly dance lesson led by Sharon Schiliro and Michael Hart of Dancing by the Bayou (free with the price of admission!).

Our pilot Dance for PD® class series, presented in collaboration with Dance for PD® (Parkinson's Disease), continues in March! Classes meet Wednesday afternoons in Arcade Building Classrooms 202 & 203 and are free for participants, care partners, and family members thanks to the generous support of program donors.

We're back in March with a returning favorite DanceFit class: Shake Your Soul! Drop-in to any of our Saturday morning workouts at the door, pre-register in advance to grab the early bird discount, or try the 10-class package! Due to capacity, a limited number of registrations will be available in advance and at the door. Classes will meet in the Hall of Mirrors Dance Studio in March, so please bring shoes that have not been worn outside!

In addition to our fabulous social dance events, Glen Echo Park also hosts social dance classes in a variety of styles at various levels. Browse the Mindful Movement & Dance Technique section of the catalog to find classes that introduce you to new styles or improve your technique in styles you already love!

Keep on Dancin',

Emily Crews

P.S. Watch for more info about door prizes at the Final Four dances of the month!

A recent New York Times article highlights "The Bad Bunny Effect," a surge of interest in Salsa sparked by the artist's song “Baile Inolvidable" (or “Unforgettable Dance”).

If you're also experiencing the Bad Bunny effect, consider registering for a Salsa class or joining us at a Salsa & Bachata y más!
