ARTISTS SUSTAINABILITY WORKSHOP SERIES

"FINANCIAL FLUENCY FOR CREATIVES"

Join us for the final two online workshops of the "Financial Fluency for Creatives" series. The upcoming workshop on Sole Proprietorship strategies will take place this evening Thursday, March 2nd, from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM. The following workshop on Budgeting and Savings will be held Tuesday, March 7th from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM.

BRONX MEMOIR PROJECT (BMP)

"PATH TO 90 PAGES"

BMP's online workshop series "Path to 90 Pages" with Latanya Devaughn concludes this weekend! In this creative writing workshop, participants will explore memoir writing using prompts to inspire their writing entries. This four-week series ends this Saturday, March 4th, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM.



Writers of all levels are welcome join.

"CREATING COMPELLING CHARACTERS"

BMP's next online workshop series will be with novelist and hypnotherapist Sofia Quintero. Quintero will introduce writers every week to an unconventional way to uncover additional layers to the people that live in their story world – including the authors themselves. Through this workshop series, participants can add these exercises to their toolbox and use them again and again for a variety of writing projects.

This four-week series will be held every Saturday from March 11th - April 1st from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM.



Writers of all levels are welcome join.

ARTISTS SUSTAINABILITY WORKSHOP SERIES (ASWS)

"SUSTAINING A CAREER IN FILMMAKING"

Next up for our Artists Sustainability Workshop Series (ASWS) will be "Sustaining a Career in Filmmaking" series with Ghetto Film School!

This three part hybrid series (workshops will be offered both online and in-person) will focus on media production and film. Participants will gain tips and insights into strategies and techniques of networking and career sustainability. The workshops will take place on March 14th, March 21st, and March 28th from 5:00 - 7:30PM at Ghetto Film School, 79 Alexander Ave, Bronx, NY 10454.

The first workshop will discuss all aspects of production; looking at “production” as a whole, rather than just the film set, and diving in on what it means to be in a “production”.

GRANTS PANELISTS WANTED

BCA 2023 GRANT CYCLE

BCA is seeking artists, arts professionals, and community-based organization leaders to serve as panelists for our 2023 grants cycle. Panelists are an essential component of BCA’s grant-making process, selecting projects and deciding on the distribution of grant funds to Bronx based artists, art collectives, arts organizations, and other community-based groups. Panelists help us foster equitable, transparent, and inclusive grant-making practices, in accordance with BCA’s mission and values. If you're interested in being part of the process apply below!

OPEN CALL FOR TEACHING ARTISTS

SEEKING ARTISTS FOR JUVENILE JUSTICE RESIDENCY

The Bronx Council on the Arts (BCA) is seeking teaching artists to staff artist residencies for youth involved in the criminal justice system from April through December 2023. This program engages Bronx youth involved in the criminal justice system with the benefits of creative expression. Successful candidates will have experience teaching and working with youth and will possess a passion for arts education.

Applications are due March 20th by 11:59 PM.

LONGWOOD ART GALLERY @ HOSTOS

BCA is seeking applications from NYC curators for its Longwood Art Gallery @ Hostos June 2023 group exhibition Self-Reflection/Rehash. 

Self-Reflection/Rehash will be a group exhibit featuring 7 to 10 artists whose work looks at different forms of self-representation that depart from conventional notions and attributes of diasporic identity, such as heritage, nationality, and race, among others. Using a variety of artistic mediums, these artists focus on self-portraiture to present their own inner dialogue about the human condition, such as aging, mental health, and body image. ROY SECORD, A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT

Throughout four seasons, Roy Secord explores, surveys, and captures the beauty and diversity of nature and landscape of the 23-mile stretch of the restored, Bronx River/Greenway Corridor through photography and graphic arts, providing a public exhibition, youth photography programming, a timely, environmental justice narrative, and community conversations on Bronx nature.
