RF Smoke on the Water Finishes Runner -up in CIC3* while RF Azarah and RF Black Pearl Take Second and Third in CIC2*

Wellington, Florida, USA. March 11, 2013

Marilyn Little, international eventer and grand prix show jumper, secured half of the top three places in the CIC 2 and 3 star events at the Red Hills International Horse Trials in Tallahassee, Florida this weekend.  Raylyn Farms and Pheobe & Michael Manders eight year old Wurttemberger gelding (Samos x Rapaulo) finished a close second in the CIC2* on 50.7.  Little laid down the challenge by going into the final cross country phase as the overnight leader on 'Smoke' who won the CIC2* division last year, with Raylyn Farms & Team Demeter's 10 year old Oldenburg mare RF Demeter (Rubin Royal x Kanudos X) in second place following their clear show jumping rounds. An unfortunate fall on the flat early in the course prematurely ended 'Demi's' cross country round.

In the CIC2* division, Raylyn Farms & John Cox & Nancy Nelson & Rick Moore's eight year old Dutch Warmblood mare RF Azarah (Tolan R x Corland) secured second place by finishing on her dressage score of 56.4 with Raylyn Farms' eight year old Holsteiner mare RF Black Pearl (Nekton x Mytens xx) achieving a third place finish also finishing on her dressage score of 57.8 in their first event together.  RF Black Pearl is a recent import from Europe and a horse that Little regards very highly.

"I  so pleased with the performance of all four horses this weekend at Red Hills," noted Little.  "This is Smoke and Azarah's first outing of the year and to see them begin their competition seasons with such strong finishes is incredibly exciting. My newest partner Black Pearl has proven to be everything I had hoped she would be, and will likely step up to the three star level before the spring is through. Demeter is truly in top form, and though a most unfortunate run in with a tree on the cross country course foiled her weekend results, happily we are no worse for the wear, have dually noted the humor in the unusual nature of the situation, and will now kick on towards the 3* at The Fork and the 4* at Rolex in Lexington, KY this spring."

Marilyn will then return to Wellington this week to show with Stephanie Barnes' A Vaantje R;  Raylyn Farms' Quintana 26,  Nightfire 25, Venus; Raylyn Farms & Egbert Schep's Vivawell through the rest of the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) season.
