Dear Equity Yacht and interested fellow Members,

In the three weeks since our last update to our Members regarding our Marina projects, we've been working on the following tasks internally or in partnership with our vendors:

  • Your Marina Committee and Board of Directors reviewed and approved the contract with Bellingham Marine Industries. This contract includes the floating docks, as well as the utilities for the entire marina (all slips). This contract calls for their part of the work to be complete by January 4, 2023.
  • We have been working with our owner's rep and project engineer, Turrell, Hall & Associates on permitting for State and Federal requirements.
  • This week, we met with our project engineer and Kelly Brothers on-site to discuss the proposal for our fixed docks and select sections of the seawall

With the contract for the floating docks and all utilities in place, the focus is now on ensuring the proposal for the fixed docks is accurate and takes into account the design and layout of our Marina. One aspect we have asked our engineer and the contractor to evaluate and present options for is our Member owned lifts which are present in the Marina. While some lifts were damaged during the storm and will need to be replaced, others are recently installed and incurred apparently little or not structural damage. The priority for this effort and others is to minimize unnecessary costs to our Members while fully restoring the marina in the least amount of time and at the best value possible. We hope to have details of this recommendation in the next two weeks, and have requested a proposal that would include “lift ready” pilings for every slip in our Marina.

Receipt of the final proposal will allow us to provide a full description of project costs and the assessment process to our Equity Yacht Members. Again we are anticipate having this information in coming weeks.

Finally, your Marina Committee recently reviewed the results of the Post - Townhall Survey that was sent out. Thank you to the 100+ Members that took the time to share feedback. Based on the results and comments, we will be increasing the frequency of our updates regarding the Dock projects and also working on individual outreach and follow up when appropriate. It is also apparent that we need to fully explore all options when it comes to developing a process for addressing individually owned lifts, and we look forward to sharing more about that as we hear back from our professional team.
