🚨 WE NEED CLASS PARENTS —
YES, YOU! 🚨
Marshall runs on volunteers… and right now, we're running a little short.
Class Parents work with Marshall Administration and the PTSA to help organize, set up, and support school events throughout the year, plus assist with a few key fundraisers. Each class has a handful of traditions and events that help make it happen.
Here is the honest truth: volunteer numbers have dwindled, and too often the same 1–2 parents are carrying the load. When more parents jump in, it's easier, faster, and honestly a lot more fun. Many hands make light work.
We especially need parents of Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen.
If you can help (even a little), please email today and get involved. Marshall students are counting on it! Email VP@GCMPTSA.ORG

Jennifer Butterworth – Health & PE Teacher
What is your position at Marshall, and what do you enjoy most about it? Health and PE, Yoga, Leadership, and Sports Medicine Teacher. I enjoy being able to connect with students and help them grow not only academically but socially and emotionally.
If you weren't in education, what would you be doing instead? If I were not in education, I would go into the military or the FBI. I enjoy trying to find solutions to problems and working with others to solve the issues at hand.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would want to travel to Maui. I absolutely love the beach as it is my calm place. It doesn't matter the stress I have; it just melts away listening to the waves and feeling the sand and sun.
What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday? My favorite ways to spend my Saturday is to go hiking with my family or just spend the day do absolutely nothing.
What's one thing you hope students take away from your class or role? I hope students are able to learn that failure is the key to success. If you fail and learn from your failures, that is what will make you stronger and successful in whatever you do. Don't be afraid to try new things because even if it doesn't go right, you might find an even better outcome.
If your students gave you a "superlative" (like in the yearbook), what would it be? I think I would be known as the energizer bunny. I teach many courses and am always in different rooms depending on the class. I am also a person who goes all day long with a lot of energy.
If you could give one piece of advice to Marshall's parents, what would it be? Piece of advice: Listen to your child and be a supporter and cheerleader. They look up to you even if you don't realize it.
What's one thing parents can do at home to support their student's success? The best thing you can do at home is give a listening ear and ask the students about their day. Make the connection between each other healthy and stronger. High school is a tough time.
