MARYLAND - CDA Initiative and Training Voucher Program

is Ending Sunday, June 30

We are in the final 3 days for the two largest financial aid programs for Early Childhood Education (ECE) professionals in Maryland: the CDA Training Initiative and the MSDE Training Voucher Program ($400/voucher). Both of these important programs end this Sunday, June 30th.

1) Maryland CDA Training Initiative participants have until Sunday to use their $425 application fee voucher in  YourCouncil.org. If you need help submitting your application, One-On-One help is available by contacting our grant specialist. If you have not found a PD Specialist, you should be receiving a new voucher which allow you to submit without a PD Specialist (for now - you'll have to go back and find one after you submit) OR we just added a PD Specialist who can conduct your infant/toddler or preschool observation if you teach in English!!! Let us know if you're stuck and need their PDS Endorsement ID.

2) If you are a Maryland Staff Level 2 teacher, assistant or home day care provider who would like to apply for a $400 MSDE Training Voucher, express your interest via the ChildCareED online interest form ASAP so we can send instructions on how to apply (by the Sunday deadline!) through the Maryland OneStop Portal. If you still need One-On-One help after reviewing the instructions, contact our voucher specialist. Telling us you are interested is NOT the same as applying so please follow the instructions to submit your application - they are still being approved!

If you are approved for a voucher, you need to sign and date the provider section, toward

the top of the form, using BLUE ink. Then, scan the signed voucher and send it to grants@ChildCareED.com. Our voucher specialist will provide you with the training shortly thereafter.

As always, we will let you know about any future funding opportunities for Maryland providers and hope many of you were able to benefit from these two wonderful opportunities.

The Importance of Teaching Kids Safety

There is a large selection professional development classes on safety and emergency preparedness available. Listed below is a small list of some our available classes:

Even though National Safety Month is coming to a close, we need to remember that safety is one of life's important responsibility for all. it doesn't matter wether we're at home, work, or with family, child ren need to learn sagfety skills too. Teach kids to cross the street by playing "safety patrol" allowing them to practice the observation skills needed to cross safely. Kitchen safety can be taught with guided cooking project projects to learn about allergies, hot/cold, tool safety, etc. Summertime can be turned into a season long teachable moment by teaching kids the importance of hydration, caring for minor scratches/cuts, and water activity safety.

Here is a sampling of useful materials from the ChildCareED Free Resource Library. New materials are constantly being added to our library. Please feel free to download any resource materials that are helpful.
