Senate Leadership Conduct Hearings Regarding the Public Employment Retirement System (PERS)
On Tuesday, March 19th, the Senate Government Structure Committee heard testimony from members of the PERS Board of Trustees. The link to this hearing can be found below.

In addition, the Mississippi Association of Supervisors submitted a letter (with approval of the MAS President, MAS Legislative Committee Chair, and the MAS Board of Directors) to both chambers applauding the leadership’s efforts to address the employer’s contribution rate increase that could lead to tax increase at the county and municipal level of government.

The Twelfth week of the 2024 Regular Legislative Session is now complete. The deadline for original Floor Action on general bills and constitutional amendments has passed. The deadline for making requests for appropriation and revenue bills to be drafted is Monday March 25th. The deadline for committees to report general bills and constitutional amendments originating in other House is Tuesday, April 2nd.
