Sr. Yasmin Mogahed Inspires at
Sisters' Spiritual Retreat
On Saturday, March 22nd, we were blessed with the opportunity to have Sr. Yasmin Mogahed, international speaker, author, writer, and motivator, join us at the MAS Youth Sisters' Spiritual Retreat, which was organized in conjunction with YMSKC and the KU MSA, at the KU Edwards Campus - Best Conference Center. Nearly 250 people benefited from the six-hour program, which included three sessions by Sr. Yasmin, each followed by Q&A, as well as salah, dinner, bazaar shopping from seventeen different local Muslim businesses/vendors, and a raffle prize giveaway of five different prizes, including a free copy of Sr. Yasmin's book, Reclaim Your Heart! The program ended with Maghrib prayer and book-selling/book-signing by Sr. Yasmin.

The program content focused on liberating ourselves from all standards but Allah's standards and transforming the unhealthy bonds we have with people/matters of the dunya to the healthy, stable bond we should have with Allah (swt) and ways to be able to maintain that bond and spirituality in everyday life. Alhamdulillah, the attendees included not only sisters from the KC area, but also many other cities/states, including Lawrence, Topeka, Wichita, Columbia, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and more!

We hope that everyone was able to benefit and enjoy the program, and we look forward to similar future events, Insha'Allah.

Brothers' Super Bowl Party Held on Feb. 2nd

On Sunday, February 2nd, MAS Youth hosted their annual Super Bowl Watch Party for brothers at Tomahawk Ridge Community Center. Alhamdulillah, we had a great turnout with about 50 brothers! It was a great way for brothers to get together and socialize.

We ensured a Muslim appropriate environment was provided by turning off the broadcast during commercials and the Pepsi halftime show. Food, snacks, and drinks were provided. Special thanks to the ICK Management for allowing us to borrow the popcorn machine as the youth enjoyed it throughout the game!

Alhamdulillah, the event was a great success and we plan to continue hosting similar parties every year, Insha'Allah

MAS Scouts Working Hard!
The Boy Scouts have been busy with their biweekly meetings and activities! They are currently working on the First Aid Merit Badge, and will, Insha'Allah, be hosting a doctor on April 20th to complete the requirement for the badge.  The Boy Scouts also had a visitor from the Boy Scouts of America to evaluate the MASKC Boy Scouts activities and he was very impressed with what he saw, Masha'Allah!

The Girl Scouts have been on two field trips! The first was Thinking Day at Pleasant Ridge Middle School. All Girl Scouts troops in the community gathered, and each troop gave a project on one of the countries located around the Black Sea. The MASKC 3 troops chose to talk about Turkey. The Daisies brought Turkish displays, the Brownies made an informative poster, and the Juniors made Turkish food! This was a great experience, Alhamdulillah, as the girls learned more about countries where their fellow Girl Scouts live. The Girl Scouts have also been on a field trip with the Brownies to the Olathe Fire Station and learned about fire fighters and their job. Before that fieldtrip, at their regular ICK meeting, the Daisies were given a lesson on fire hazards and safety and made fireman hats. The Girl Scouts have also been focusing on their theme this year of the garden, using the Journey book "Welcome to the Daisy Flower Garden", and are learning about how to take care of the environment and gardens around us, as well as making activities based on these topics, such as making dolls using nature items and doing recycling activities. MAS Youth Brothers & Sisters Sports
On March 15th, MAS Youth had a Sporting KC soccer game outing for brothers and sisters! The weather was beautiful, Alhamdulillah, and with it being the home opener game for the season for the MLS champions, it was an awesome and exciting environment to be in!
MAS Youth sisters held a volleyball night in January at the ISGKC gym, and many young sisters from the community came and participated in warmups, practice, and organized team volleyball games and had a blast! More sports to come Insha'Allah, including basketball on April 26th!
The MAS Youth brothers started their annual Muslim Flag Football League in March, and over 60 brothers have been meeting for games every Sunday. The league tournament will continue and playoffs will take place at the end of April, Insha'Allah!
