My point is it would be this strong without YOU! It really means a lot to me that you take the time to read it!!! I absolutely love reading all your comments every month! DPPC!
We want to hear from you!
|
|
MASS is helping the DDS, the DPPC, and professors from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a project to learn more about how people use technology.
We have an online survey to learn more from you about computers, iPads and cell phones and how they work for you. How can we help you use these systems to recognize, report and respond to abuse?
We also want to know:
- About your daily life and lifestyle
- About your support staff and how they help you
- About your work, school, daily program
|
|
Things we ask about in the survey group will be confidential and private. We are asking for people who are o.k. talking about abuse in general (this will not be a time for personal stories).
If you are interested in helping out by telling us your opinion, please take this
SURVEY
.

I can't wait to hear from all of YOU! Have a great day and keep on reading!

Denver Trip!
Sue
Moriarty and Pauline Bosma attended the NAPSA Conference in Denver from Aug 18-22. Pauline Bosma and Sue Moriarty presented an Awareness and Action workshop at the National Adult Protective Services Conference in Denver, Colorado. The DPPC and the Sexual Assault Response Unit also organized several panels and workshops. In addition, we enjoyed attending NAPSA’s 1
st
annual convening to develop a national vision and plan to address sexual abuse against people with disabilities.
We had people from different states and even Singapore at our A and A presentation, and we encouraged them to start building partnerships in their states/country and to offer their own A and A Trainings. We really liked meeting so many different people and Pauline shared information about RSG in Massachusetts when she got a chance.
We were struck by the fact that many states were not aware of their self-advocacy organizations and the value of connecting with self-advocates and other partners and allies. Here in Massachusetts we have a good model of working together: Congratulations to the SARU Unit. They won a Collaboration Award!
When we had a free minute we enjoyed a trip into the Rocky Mountains, the beautiful weather and the beautiful scenery in Colorado. We are grateful for the opportunity to attend the conference and for this unforgettable experience!

Central had a lovely summer!
We enjoyed beautiful weather at our annual cookout in July and a self-direction ice cream social.
We also had a great training by Teka Harris on guardianship at last month’s Central Work-team meeting, where we got to meet some new advisers and new members! In addition to that we are staying informed about transportation meetings and legislative issues in our region.
Our next Central Work-team Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept 10
th
at Autism Resource Central, 712 Plantation St, Worcester, from 6-8PM.
As summer winds down Some of the Central Work-team members will be out visiting new groups, giving self-advocacy trainings and doing some small fundraising this fall.
We also hope to meet and chat with our Central-West DDS Acting Regional Director Lisa Saba at our meeting in September or October.
As always, the excitement is starting to build for the upcoming MASS Conference, and the leaves begin to get colorful here in Central Mass, we want to wish everyone a happy September!
