May is Month PAA Officers are Elected

Wow! May is here to bring change to the Plano Art Association, all the while keeping the traditions that have made us what we are. This is the month of voting for your next year’s officers. A nominating committee headed by Louise Dillard and consisting of Gene Dillard, Linda McCarley, Ruth Siddiqi, and Diana Beck presented us with a list of candidates to fill the open positions in the organization.

Here is the list of officers nominated:

Pam Crosby (former President Elect) will automatically become President
Nolan Mueller – President Elect
Joan Kaiser – Treasurer (this is her 2nd year)
Kelly McCurdy – Secretary

Thanks go to the committee for finding qualified, willing people to run for office. And thank you to the candidates for stepping up.

Until May 18, there is still time for nominations from the organization to run for the position of President Elect, Secretary, or Treasurer. If anyone wishes to nominate themselves or other willing members for these positions, you are encouraged to do so. Click here to make a nomination

Members Meeting – May 25
This is the meeting where your vote counts, so it is important that you show up and be counted!! The meeting will start at 7pm. We are still using Zoom so you will get a further meeting announcement with the details. I am looking forward to seeing all of you there. Installation of the officers will occur for the start of their new term in June.
PAA Artists Participate in Art & Wine Walk
The April 24 Wine Walk was a success. In the outdoor venue and good weather, the event drew a large number of people (some with money in their pockets!!).

Thank you to all the attendees and to the willing volunteers that helped make this event possible. Gene, Gaby, and Joan Kaiser were there from the start to make sure that everything was coordinated. Mark McGinnis and James Gilbreath showed up early and started the training to set up tents.

Christa Diepenbrock, Jeff and Joan Kaiser, Kim Kort, Odilia Iaccarino, Maureen Watkins, Ruth Siddiqi, Kelly McCurdy and husband Jim, Robertus Van de Wege with his better half Sherri, Becky Bales, Nolan Mueller and Paloma, Edith Torres and Urban, and myself (with a friend named Cheryl Carse I had talked in to helping) all pitched in and pitched tents to help make it happen. Even more miraculous was the taking everything down at the end of a long, productive, but tiring day.

Thank you everyone for helping.

Friday Night Lights and Shadows is Back!
This group is back up and running. Painting and drawing from a live model, this group meets every Friday night from 7pm to 10pm. They use the MeetUp Page where you can register each week to reserve a spot. PAA member, Chuck D’Arcy, is the coordinator. The cost for a session is $20 payable at the venue. This pays for the venue and the model.

Right now FNLS is meeting on the 2nd Floor of 1007 15th Street. Entrance is in the back. See map below.

If you want to brush up on your figure drawing and painting, or want to try it out, this is your time and place. Reserve a spot now. Bring your supplies and your talent and start drawing or painting. Easels, chairs and side tables are provided. PAA has plans for a FNLS-only Show if we can ever get rid of this darn COVID thing!
Keep creating!!

Amazon Smile
Did you know you can give money to the PAA just by using Amazon Smile. Instead of using the general Amazon website, sign on the Amazon Smile. Designate Plano Art Association as your charity and any purchases you make will have a small percentage of the Amazon profit go to the PAA instead. It is an easy way to give money, and you pay the same price for the items on Amazon Smile as you would for the regular Amazon. Just think if all of our members (and maybe their family and friends) would do this as a habit. It would really help our budget.
