From the Pastor

Did you know that FCC Oskaloosa is in charge of the 3^rd Sunday afternoon worship service at Homestead Assisted Living Facility?

It is a wonderful time to worship with our community in a unique way.

AND

If you love singing those classic hymns from your childhood, you will LOVE this service.

The service begins at 3pm in the community activities room. We start by singing 3 or 4 hymns that the congregation yells out. Then there is a brief sermonette, communion, prayer, and more singing of our favorite hymns.

FCC is one of the only congregations that serves communion at these services, and we always have a great time.

Then we have the opportunity to head to the memory care unit to share in singing and prayer with them.

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend these worship services and if you would ever like to play or sing special music, you are more than welcome to come. We are always looking for piano players as well.

All are invited to the Homestead Assisted Living worship service every third Sunday at 3pm. We hope to see you there!

Property Note

The church parsonage project is complete and included the following items.

All carpet within the house was replaced
Many ceiling light fixtures original to the house were replaced.
The upstairs bath countertop, faucets, drains, cabinet doors were replaced and cabinet was repainted.
Replaced laundry room shower door, flooring, vanity and sink, faucet, medicine chest, wall mounted light fixture, ceiling light and cabinet around drainage pipe.

Thanks to Nolen Forsythe, Jon and Bryan Butler, Eric Held, Joe Smith, Brock Martin, Doug VanRoekel and Connie Clark-Louderback for all your help.

Final cost was $11,192.21

Musical "Notes"

My how the months go by! The weather changes and warms. Flowers pop up, trees blossom, and school activities have their last flurries before summer break.

We hope everyone has had a good few months. We are still looking for a music director, but are trusting in God’s plan to bring us together with the one He has chosen for us.

We at First Christian Church celebrated a wonderful Lenten season, culminating in a joyful, praise-filled Easter Sunday worship. We want to thank all the musicians who worked hard to provide beautiful music for both Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday:

Men's Ministry

Join us every Tuesday and Thursday at 1 pm in the Fellowship Hall for Men's Dominoes.

On behalf of Church Women United in Iowa (and Mahaska County), tabs from aluminum cans of all sizes are being collected to provide personal items for human trafficking survivors who are recovering in 3 safe houses in Iowa. Please bring donations in zipper storage bags and drop off in the basket.
